At least we won the rebounding battle...
It's going to be tough if LJ is out for any extended period of time. He's the heart and soul of this team and what keeps it going in the right direction. Without him, Pryor tries to become a world beater and tries to do too much, yes he scored a lot but he can score more when his teammates (Peak) are setting him up.
Not a great game from the 5 position. I would have liked to see Mourning even just as a message to Govan and Hayes that their roles aren't set in stone.
Every road game in the BE will be difficult. Hell, every game in the BE will be tough. Even Depaul just took Villanova down to the wire. The early losses were tough, the winning streak was nice, and this game hurt but the season isn't over yet. Let's let the games play out before placing all the blame for the year.

You JT3 haters just refuse to recognize that PLAYERS HAVE TO PLAY. Was Peak's performance due to Thompson's coaching? Were Mosley's airball 3 and Pryor's backboard 3 called by the coach? Of course the coach is responsible for which players get on the court and much of how they are prepped, but they still need to perform. When they do perform well you get a six game win streak. When they don't you get a loss. On the road. In conference play. You act as if they are supposed to win every gave. Do you really believe that to be true? Can't a road loss occur when the best player plays badly, and not have the world end? Been waiting for that post. Long overdue and good for you centercourt. To expect this coach to win with this garbage is beyond me. This board is unreasonable to expect success when we have these players. Thanks for pointing that out as it needed to be said. Whoever is recruiting this mess should be fired, not coach. That's not what he said, stop being purposefully obtuse. It's not cute or clever.

The complete postgame quote from Jujuan Johnson: " We watched Georgetown on film and saw that they were lazy on defense and didn't really want to guard". What an embarrassing indictment of the program. We now even have opponents openly questioning our effort.

At some point we as a fan base may have to acknowledge that Georgetown's talent is average at best in this conference. Peak, Pryor can hold their own, and after that it's a collection of average BE players who are either not well coached or aren't responding to it. Yup. I think the problem is actually they don't realize how talented they are, and coach doesn't go a good job of playing them to their strengths. He had a good thing going with Mulmore last night but inexplicably went away from it, and Jagan threw more bad passes and messed up the spacing horribly on that one play Rodney got caught passing in the air. On the road in the first conference game as a freshman and he played like it. That cost us the game, period. And that Howard kid hittin 1-2 more threes than necessary.

For all the gnashing of teeth about our defense (which I do agree about), we did have a couple of back to back possessions where we forced a shot clock violation in the 2nd.

The "scouting report" from JJ was "lazy" not slow or confused or disorganized. The word was lazy as in "the tape showed they play defense as an occasional hobby."
It's a pretty specific criticism and a telling one for how other teams will attack the Hoyas.

I really didn't expect us to win this game but thought we would look much better than we did. There are so many holes right now that I will be shocked if we are even competitive against Xavier in 2 days. We have to acknowledge three glaring weaknesses in this team. First, we have no on-court team leader/playmaker. Look around the league folks. Almost every other BE team has that guy and has had that guy for the past few years. That guy not only takes over games in the last 5 minutes (see Josh Hart last night) but also makes everyone around him look better (see Marquette guards last night). Second, we have no big man presence in the paint. In today's game you don't need the great big man like you did in the pre-three point shot days. You just need guy who can defend the paint and get some big offensive rebounds. I know it hurts to say this but look at Nova. Ochefu fit the bill perfectly. He was no one's idea of a great big man but he gave them enough inside presence to allow Nova's guards and forwards to play aggressively on defense knowing that a blow by would not automatically be a layup. I swear Bradley Hayes is our lamest 7 footer since Frank Hollendoner. And offensively our big men are a joke. Could you imagine what Hibbert would have done to Fisher last night? Jesse's stumbling travel in the paint was horrendous. And finally, isn't anyone going to point out that we have only two offensive threats? LJ gets hurt and we are screwed. I really had a hard time with all the talk that we would be better without Ike. Hello? He scored 32 against Marquette last year. How do we score against Xavier without a healthy LJ? MD? maybe but he has to have someone to set him up. Which brings us back to weakness number one.

All BE home teams held court today. We need to do the same on Saturday or we'll be forced to find an away win somewhere. I'm sure the 600 in attendance will help with that. Do they still bus from campus or have the students stopped coming to home games? 602.... My husband and I will be there!

Huh??? It is not hate. it is observation. he shot the ball well but that does not mean you played well. Alot of what he does shows he does not trust his teammates. Some might say well thats good because they are no good. But you will never win playing the way he did tonight. taking 6 dribbles to free yourself for a contested 18 fter is not going to be a winning strategy because the other 4 guys become ball watchers. Also the I am going to go at 3 guys 1-3 on the break stuff is getting annoying now. He shot well from the floor and hit at least 3 of those 6-dribble pull-ups you referenced....what are you really mad at? Agreed. I would say most of his shots are "bad" shots because they are contested. He makes them at such a high rate that his "bad" shots are better than anything this offense produces. People are acting like we have this great dribble drive offense or swing the ball around til there is an open shot that he is disrupting. This offense is pass the ball around the perimeter and MAKE SURE a 7 footer gets a touch at the 3 point line and then someone decides to take a shot when they feel like it. I am starting to wonder what these people are really mad at as well because it sure as hell shouldn't be Rodney's shots.

To those dismissing Johnson's comments...so you're telling me that YOU know better than a D1, wojo coached, film watching, high caliber player who competed against our Hoyas? To quote the great Ace Ventura, aaaaaalllllllrightttttyyyyy then.

We just got an insight into how another team prepared for us, what they saw as one of our weaknesses and how they prepared to exploit it, yet you could care less? JJ's comments should be locker-room material for any team.

He didn't pull us up on Netflix, they had a film session where Wojo pointed out that the Hoyas can't stay focused long enough to play 30 seconds of team defense. And he's right. They had maybe 3 shot clock violations but Marquette happily traded those for wide open shots off defensive breakdowns.
