I didn't realize greensboro played Wake to basically a draw with a buzzer beater to win it. Creighton proved that everybody has a shot when they let Oral Roberts keep it close. I expect some fire as this team can't sleep walk through games like this.

My biggest concern is contribution from a couple of others other than Peak and Pryor. Would love to sees Derrickson heat up. Also want to see him playing more inside being a beast on the board.

Derrickson is shooting 27% overall for the year and 26% from 3pt range. This is way below his ability and has to improve. Hayes is shooting 48.5% which at first blush appears good but is really very mediocre for a big shooting from a distance of under 5 feet. These two players can instantly make the Hoya offense more dangerous if they return to form from last year.

Akoy will have some extra giddy-up to his step with some close friends from Nebraska coming to watch him play

Greensboro just nabbed a 75-73 win at UNC Asheville tonight so they will come to DC at 9-3. A game we should win, but not a team we can take lightly.

So many times vs Syracuse he didn't even look to shoot when he got the ball in a great scoring position. He's one of my favorites on the team, and I think he can be a great weapon if he just figures out how good he really is and stops thinking so much.

That's great news. Akoy is doing a great job this season. It has been fun watching him get more comfortable as he has returned from injury. He's really an important piece of this team and one of our best defenders.

An important trap game that may prove to be challenging...I really hope that the Hoyas hit them hard from the start and grab a decent lead to build on.

Pound it inside and get them in foul trouble.

I agree that Akoy has been a great addition. He is a versatile defender and good rebounder and gives us another guy who can protect the rim to some degree. His mobility should continue to improve as he works back from his injuries. He has been in foul trouble a couple of times and hopefully he can avoid that moving forward. Would love to see him be more active on the offensive glass because I think he could be a really good offensive rebounder and that should lead to some easy hoops for him. I could easily see him as a guy who averages 6 -10 points a game and 4 -6 rebounds. Add that on a regular basis to the current group and you are building some real depth.

Where did James Dickey come from? He's been a beast on the boards and at the rim. His offensive rebounding percentage is basically the same as DeJuan Blair's as a freshman. What is he doing on UNC-Greensboro?

I think this is a game that will be hugely telling with regard to the rest of the season. If we lose, everyone on here gets REALLY negative, its a redux of last year, we can kiss NCAAs goodbye, and the team will have killed any momentum it has gained over the past 5 games.
If we win, we have a solid 6 game winning streak going into conference play, we've vanquished our north carolina directional school demons, UNCG is actually not a BAD team, and the guys have a lot of confidence at 8-4 with a challenging first 5 game conference slate.
In sum, tomorrow's game is big. Go Hoyas.

A loss here and a loss at Marquette and the line forms on the left for first off the cliff.

Not really sure where to post this.. The athletics department posted three videos today for UNCG and all three were fascinating. There is a chemistry with this team that I don't remember seeing in recent Hoya teams. LJ talked about how much he enjoyed having freedom from the staff to do what he needs to do on the court. He also started grinning ear to ear at the mention of Pryor. Pryor talked about how the "Princeton" made him a better player. It showcases his talent and lets him get shot opportunities without having to create. Said the idea it's a slow offense was wrong. Wish every recruit would watch that! Finally, JTIII was there and he was mostly his usual self, but he even cut a few jokes, talking about how Pryor needed to rebound and the like. Of course he's right, but he did it in a way that just seemed different. Good vibes right now. Hope they keep it going tomorrow.

I wasn't able to locate them..
