At this point, I think it's more realistic that we get hot and win the BET than get to 10-8 in conference. That's fair. But, I think 9-9 and a BET final would get us there too. Assuming we are in the bottom 6 of the league, that'd mean we were 3-1 in the tournament, for a total record of 12-10, with some good wins.

To be fair, with at least 14 games left, there are tons of possibilities. So, this is going to easily sort itself out. The problem is that we have to win games we are not favored to win. 5 games in to the BE, we havent.

The problem is that we have to win games we are not favored to win. 5 games in to the BE, we havent. I am going to let out my inner fan here (and throw away some logic), but to win the remaining games we need to play better than we've been playing. There are signs out there - Derrickson, Mulmore/Mosely playing better. If this happens, then we should outperform current odds which are based on current performance. Thus, while a site like KenPom might project us out to 7-11, if we improve those odds will change and we will eventually be favored in some of those games we are projected to lose. That's my long way of saying that if we get better, we can win some of those games.

This aint rocket science. We play 6 games against quality top 10 calibre BE teams. Win 4 or 5 of those and we are in (assuming no slip-ups against Depaul and St. John's and home wins against Marquette, Providence and Seton Hall). Tall order but perhaps with turnaround at guard and coming out of MD it will be possible.

Sure anything is possible. But at 1-4 I would say very slim to zero chance

My optimistic preseason prediction's reforecast for actual results have us at 9-9 which will have us in the NIT and not bad considering 1-4 start and the opponents we have in front of us.

We need 10-4 to be on the right side of the discussion. Does anyone think this team has 10-4 in them?

What is absolutely pathetic is that in re-living the losses to Maryland, Arkansas State, Xavier, Providence and Butler, this team could be 14-3 and in my mind should be no worse than 12-5. Better play was required for certain, but just loss of composure by all concerned cost them at least 3 games. No tournament this year barring a miracle. Next year not looking very bright either without some last minute infusion of talent, other than PGs, where they have 3 (counting Tre) returning and 1 coming. Need size and scoring to talk tournament next year. Where is that coming from? The 2017 class is disappearing and JUCO kids going fast as well. Given the troubles the coaches have had blending the new players into this team, it is hard to imagine they could suddenly add 2-3 5th year transfers with any success.

9-9 in the league, win a game or two in the BET, and hold our breath...tall order but possible. Need to beat You Con on Saturday.

Too early to tell - the losses are starting to pile up for everyone 4th and below - you could see 4th and 5th place teams having 8-9 losses.

I have seen every BE team play several times and do not buy Xavier, Butler or Seton Hall as legitimate contenders for the second weekend. In fact, if I had to pick the team that might collapse down the stretch it is Butler. Xavier has added their suspended player in time to provide a boost. Seton Hall has no depth. I can see the BE getting 5 teams in with Marquette on the bubble along with Seton Hall.

It's good for the league that 4-5 teams hang around the rankings, but I havent been all that impressed with the BE teams when you compare it to other league play. I really think we should have and could have beaten Butler and Xavier. i guess we'll see. Until someone other than Nova breaks through, it's hard to "buy" on any one else.
