Other than the premier names, some ACC teams with high RPIs don't have that many impressive wins but I guess are there bc of schedule.
Wake Forest for example I believe is RPI 17 but have a win against Charleston but lost against Nova, Xavier and NW.

Also looking at schedule we may end up with 18 games against Top 50 opponents.

I hear there's a website you can go check. I'm promoting inclusiveness. We could all go away and ignore each other but that's not the point. I love the KenPom and RPI experts on the board as they are always there with more than a number but some wisdom.

Yeah, you put in a search for kenpom 2016 and I bet you even Bing takes you there! Bing won't take you to anything. Dan, check this guy for judgement.

There are a lot of scenarios that have been discussed here. However, I think everyone agrees that if we get 10 Big East wins that we will make the tournament. So, this is how I look at it:
- Right now, it looks like Villanova, Butler, Creighton, and Xavier are the best teams in our league. I definitely think we can win some games against them, but it's not inconceivable that we will have a losing record against them (in fact, right now I think it's likely). So, I think at a minimum, we need to go 2-6 or better against these teams.
- Depaul and St. John's are clearly the worst teams in the league, and games we really should win. I think we really need to go 4-0 against them.
- That leaves Marquette, Seton Hall, and Providence as the teams closest to us - for now. Some of these teams will make the tournament and some won't. We need to be on the right side of this group. I think we need to go 4-2 against this group.
Adding it up this yields a 10-8 Big East record which should be enough to make the tournament. Of course, we have wiggle room in the above scenarios, especially if we win games we "shouldn't" win, but the games against Marquette, Seton Hall, and Providence really could make or break us. This makes the game on Wednesday against Marquette hugely important. An away win would be a huge jolt to our tournament chances right off the bat.

I spent some time on the Marquette board last night and they feel the exact same way we do for the exact same reasons. This is a big game for both schools.

IMO, if we rebounded we would be as good as those teams currently at the top of the conference.

A win there would be nice but a loss on the road to Marquette or any of the "bubble" BE teams won't be disastrous. Only BE teams we can't lose to anywhere are St. John's and Depaul. If we beat them a combined 4 times and split with everyone else (yes including Nova) we are 11-7 and in. To keep it simple WE HAVE TO SWEEP THE TWO DOGS AND DEFEND THE HOUSE! Cannot lose any BE home games (okay maybe Nova). If we lose to Nova twice we can still finish 10-8 and have home wins over Creighton, Xavier and Butler. No way we don't make the tournament with that record. So even though I will be anxiously watching the Marquette game tomorrow night the game we really need to win is Saturday's against Xavier.

Of course losing tomorrow isn't a disaster and beating teams like Creighton, Villanova, etc. at home would make up for it, but winning games away against teams like Marquette and Providence is likely easier than beating Villanova or Creighton at home, at least right now. As I said, it's hard to envision our making the tournament without going 4-2 against Marquette. Seton Hall, and Providence. Not impossible - but a long shot. That said if we lose tomorrow we are very much alive, but winning would really boost us.

A loss probably pulls us further from the first four out, but not by much if at all.

I can't stop myself from revisiting that Maryland game over and over again. Just one less turnover and we aren't even having this discussion. Beat Quette!!!!

I also wonder how the carry-over may have been different. I hope the staff is reminding the guys of how quickly and badly that fell apart. The game is never over until the final buzzer. Play like it and let the chips fall.
