Are you telling me that fan perception, isn't always reflective of reality?! Hold the press. Otto's team was strong because of DEFENSE. Until FGCU that is. In fact, I am telling you that perception isn't reflective of reality as expressed by "adjusted efficiency". As Tbird pointed out, since our pace of play is so much better, even though we might not be scoring as frequently on each possession we are not spending as much time on each not scoring possession. I'll take a 7 minute stretch where we get up 15 shots, half of them being good shots that just didn't drop, as opposed to getting up only 8 shots in those 7 minutes, none of which are good shots, and not scoring. I know this sounds confused but anyone who watched us trying to score the last two years knows what I mean. In fact, everyone on this board has been screaming for us to increase our speed of play. Was I the only one the last few years screaming at DSR or any of our guards to "Speed it Up Godammit!!" I am not sure if the advanced statistics agree with me or not, but it certainly seems like they are a much more efficient offensive team than they were last year when they would have way too many bad shots at the end of the shot clock. They still have a few in each game but not nearly as many. They just seem to attack earlier in the shot clock. The one thing that does drive me crazy this year is when they get toward the end of a game (last 3 -5 minutes) with a small lead, 3 -6 points, they seem to slow down their pace and try to start using more clock. The reason they have the lead is because of the pace and aggressiveness they were playing with and then they start changing things. I understand the strategy of holding the ball with a lead, especially in the last minute or two, but they seem to start a few minutes too early and it seems to lead to too many turnovers, bad shots and empty possessions. Let LJ and Rodney continue to attack and that lead will probably grow and then running the clock down won't matter. They are just not nearly as good when they start playing tentatively.

Game still going on, but Cuse is down 24 with 6:44 left. At the dome. Holy cow.
Maybe that win last Saturday wasn't that impressive... if uconn can beat them and St. John's can humiliate them this bad, it might even be a bad sign they gave us as much trouble as they did...

It's now 36 I think. Guess Syracuse may want to rethink the "New York's College Team" banners.

That Syracuse board is too much fun to read after these losses. They are now sounding like they don't think Jay Wright would come to save them.

On the positive side of things, there're only like 5 more months of winter up there. Silver linings.

Hey, SUckers prefer to be called "sanitation engineers" They prefer to be called that but they never put that in print. The spelling is tricky for them.

If they keep playing like this - they may end up where we were last season! (someone had to say it!)

Don't sell Magoo short. I was at the 61-39 slaughter 3 years ago. Magoo never pressed and never subed. He allowed his guys to be humiliated. A week later they beat us in the BE tourney and 2 weeks later they beat Marquette (IN THE VERIZON CENTER!!) to go to the final four. Granted this bunch of oranges is no where near as good as the ones 3 years ago but it wouldn't surprise me to see them beat Duke or UNC this year.

Deserves props for that IMO.

He is a grown man after all, he is over 40.

They still have a few in each game but not nearly as many. They just seem to attack earlier in the shot clock. Well yes, they are more efficient than last year, but that's because they were a really bad offense last year (they're ranked 52nd this year, and 66th last year in offensive efficiency). However, they were more efficient in 2015 (29th in offensive efficiency), despite playing at a slower pace than last year. The two slowest teams JT3 has had were in 2006 and 2007. They also were the 10th and 2nd most efficient offense those years. The two fastest teams he's had were in 2010 and last year. 2010 had the 14th most efficient offense, last year had the 66th.

They have a million threads as their admins don't keep it streamlined like here but all very enjoyable with the state of their program.
