LaSalle on Dec. 10th in Miami, Syracuse in South Canada on Dec. 17th, and Final Exam period from Dec. 12th thru the 20th. What about the student athletes? Two tough games away from home around/during finals... not good!
That LaSalle game feels like a trap game: "The Explorers will add four high-major transfers -- Savon Goodman (Arizona State), Pookie Powell (Memphis), B.J. Johnson (Syracuse), and Demetrius Henry (South Carolina) -- next season to go with its top six returning scorers from last year. In addition to the transfers, Giannini also has three guys -- Jordan Price (19.2 points), Cleon Roberts (12.9 points), and Johnnie Shuler (9.6 points) -- who made 63 or more 3-point shots last season along with a potential glue guy in Tony Washington (7.7 points, 7.4 rebounds). La Salle (9-22) wasn’t a particularly good basketball team in 2015-16, but the guys who were playing the bulk of the minutes as starters last season could now potentially thrive as role players around the talented influx of newcomers." (http://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/observations-st-johns-is-primed-to-make-a-big-jump-in-the-big-east/)
Any lessons learned from the 2015-16 early season schedule?

Exactly, and you give yourself the best shot to win by not putting yourself in trap situations.

"The Basketball Hall of Fame is thrilled to be returning to Miami to host premier college basketball programs in a world-class facility," said John L. Doleva, President and CEO of the Basketball Hall of Fame. "We look forward to engaging with the Miami community and would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Miami HEAT and AmericanAirlines Arena for their support." "Georgetown, Miami and AmericanAirlines Arena are an incredible combination," head coach Dr. John Giannini said."We look forward to this game because of the great opponent, arena and location. We are excited about our team next year and this game definitely provides a wonderful opportunity." La Salle and Georgetown have met 24 times, with the Explorers holding a 15-9 advantage in a series that began in 1945. The programs have not met since 1981 when the Hoyas defeated La Salle, 79-63, in the Cabrillo Classic in San Diego. Also taking place on the 9th is the Hall of Fame Youth Clinic at Alonzo Mourning's Overtown Youth Center. This 90-minute event will be hosted by Alonzo Mourning and college players participating in the Hoophall Miami Invitational. Attendees of the clinic will also be treated to the big games. Local businesses may show their support for the youth of Miami by donating game tickets to the main event. In a very unscientific poll, I'm finding that some longtime season ticket holders are bailing this year. Main reason given is that they know they can get into the few games of interest without a problem.

Someday, perhaps, the basketball program will start scheduling as though they are in the entertainment business and not as a charity that expects annual donations regardless of the product they offer.

Have a good winning season and March success and ticket sales will go up.
As far as the ticket situation overall, it will be very tough to do as well as we did in the "old" Big East because that version of the conference had a lot of opponents who drew a lot of fans when they attended (Syracuse, Pittsburgh, West Virginia (obnoxious, but they attended), Connecticut). Aside from Villanova, the perception at least, is that our other conference games are not as desirable as the ones from our old conference. Granted, as the conference gets on its feat, I think that can change, but it's the reality.
Again, my answer is to win, win, win, and then we don't need to worry about everything else. StubHub and similar sites have created a secondary market in tickets that simply didn't exist 15-20 years ago, and it's grown substantially even from 10 years ago. The reality is that most OOC games and conference games are going to be easy tickets from here forward - not much we can do about that unless we generate more enthusiasm overall, and that's only going to happen if we win.

They're not a professional team. They're not in the entertainment business. Those two facts are not mutually exclusive. When you rent out a 20,000 seat venue to hold an event, charge money for people to attend, and broadcast said event to the entire nation, you are in the entertainment business.

Hoyas playing Howard at Verizon on Saturday after Thanksgiving (Nov. 26), per Howard(hubison.com). Howard playing GU, GWU, AU and Maryland in same season for 1st time ever. Hoyas not wasting time after playing in Maui on the Wednesday.

Either they are competing to be the big time program in a school that only has one big time program or they are just another college program offering an education to student athletes. Can't have it both ways. If we hold ourselves out to compete in CBB for national championships then they are ripe for the complaints we see. Don't be so dismissive of that as CBB at the level we are trying to compete is a business and to act like it's not is naive and stupid.

Slowly coming together. Coppin State at Verizon on November 30, per coppinstatesports.com The only MEAC school Georgetown has never played before, coming off a 9-22 season and a woeful #327 RPI. Even though their new gym cost $127 million, Coppin averages less than 900 per game, so they're a road team until MEAC play. coppinstatesports.com/sports/2015/6/2/GEN_0602153018.aspx

I tend to trust that there is a reason the staff is scheduling this game.

They have no where to go but up.
A few bottom dwellers is fine as long as you don't load up on them like Marquette did last year.
They and Howard are our only buy games right now. Our schedule is plenty strong.
