Big game to keep momentum going against a very good team. Rare Saturday night home game, hopefully a great crowd. We need to bring energy for 40 minutes.

I really hope we are planning on playing zone most of this game.

Whatever the Hoyas have to do to Bentil, do it. Make him work for everything as in no putbacks.
On offense, this is Jessie's breakout game. I have a good feeling.

Every time Dunn has the ball, go UNDER the screen and BEG him to shoot the open three. I want him taking in the range of ten threes. We have to keep him out of the lane as much as possible. And when we foul him, please make it count.

Also need some methodical offensive possessions that force them to defend for close to thirty seconds and slow down the pace of the game.

have watched my fair share of providence games this season. even if they don't play well, they always play with energy. have the feeling dunn is going to carve us up, but if we can take bentil and bullock out of this game, we should win. this is a game where working our offense through the post should work.

Must win game. We currently only have four games left against top 50 teams (Seton Hall and Butler are on the wrong side of 50 now) and this is the easiest one we have left.
Not to mention that, if we're going to make the tournament, we need to win our home games, because the "easiest" away game we have left is in Milwaukee, and we all know how hard it is to win there.

This is probably gonna be an ugly game to watch. In the 50s score wise. They are gonna play their 2-3 Zone all game. I hope we hit shots.

We need to split with Providence. The weird thing is that this season Providence is better away than at home. So, no one should panic if we lose this one, we just need a split and we might actually get that at the Dunk if we cant take it here.

Well then let's grab one Saturday and then go for the sweep at the Dunk.

Yeah, a couple of weeks ago, I would have said this was the worst matchup we had. But, Ive watched Providence a lot too and it's obvious what teams do against them. Play a 2-3 and bottle up Dunn every time he takes a step in the paint to force the ball out of his hands. To me, its the opposite of what we should have done last night. Last night, the approach should have been to not collapse against Watson, because every time we did, he kicked out to a good shooter. I dont think Providence has those shooters, and it has hurt them lately.

I will be at the game and as a basketball fan, very excited for the chance to see Kris Dunn in person. As a Hoya fan, not very excited at the thought of what he can do to our defense.
As for the game itself, I'm optimistic given the styles of play. They score about half their points on 2pt Fg's, which we are 10th best nationally in 2pfg% defense. Obviously need to keep them off the foul line and limit the number of easy points off turnovers, which Dunn is so great at. On the offensive side of the ball, they do defend the 3 point line well, but I think we will be able to pound the ball down low. If we can get Bentil in early foul trouble, I think we can feast down low as they don't play anyone else over 6-8.

I really hope we are planning on playing zone most of this game. If you are serious about the zone it better not be the basic 2-3 zone thats been shredded most of the season. Would love to see the matchup zone with pressure up top and on the wings but I don't think we have either the ability speed or experience to run it effectively other than to switch things up. Think we will play 90% man, outside of inbound plays.

So excited for this one as my dad, brother and I are gonna be in attendance. First game at the Phone Booth for my dad so I really hope it's a good turnout. Please make someone else not named Bentil or Dunn beat us in this one. I would pound the ball inside early as we have a size advantage with either BJ or Jessie over Bentil. Maybe get him in a little foul trouble. I agree with someone above who said go under screens with Dunn. You have to make him beat you with his shot. If we play zone and he gets in the middle he's so dangerous. Force him to shoot over the top. I think this one's gonna be a dogfight. Here's to hoping the Hoyas are the last one's standing!

And when we foul him, please make it count. Is count the right word? Yes. As in, no ticky-tack fouls. If we are going to foul him, he should feel it- both during the game and on Sunday. I welcome them to employ the same strategy toward us. Basketball is a contact sport, in spite of these disgusting rule changes.

I wouldn't mind the 1-3-1 in spurts, just to junk it up on them. Might be easier to help on Dunn and I don't get the sense they are going to burn us for 3 point range.

Could try match-up zone or box and one with same player on Dunn. Problem is that I am not certain who we could put on Dunn that could avoid getting beat or fouling. Perhaps Kaleb/Peak in some combination. Need the bigs to box out on Bentil or we get killed on the boards. Honestly can see this game going either way, but hoping that the Hoyas can end the rollercoaster ride and let us enjoy the top of the hill for the rest of the season. Last night's win was great at the end but there are so many areas to improve. Notwithstanding atrocious officials, and poor outside shooting, the Hoyas came back with defense. Winning on defense was always the hallmark of Big John teams.
