I realize our first priority is to win this game but I'd like JT 3's second priority to somehow come up with a game plan that gets Ike lots of looks. Gotta get him untracked and this OOC game could be a good opportunity to build his confidence.

If we can get the team that showed up against Xavier for most of the rest of the season, we will be good. Not the shooting, but playing that hard, and learning to trust each other on O and D ... we will win a lot of games. But it wouldn't be unheard of for that to be our best game of the season. Team has to bring it Saturday.

Force the team to watch the 1996 BET Final before the game to get them fired up.
NOT that I am still mad about that one...

This weekend's game is going to be very interesting.

Question for college basketball heads more knowledgable than myself: how does Georgetown match up against UConn? I didn't see any tiny guards on their roster which is cause for celebration but besides that? I know they have Sterling Gibbs but I'm sure DSR has card after playing each other so much. I've seen UCONN 3/4 times and from what I see Hamilton is the key. Ike, LJ and Kaleb need to control Hamilton and keep him from running and getting easy baskets for himself and teammates. Hamilton is a future pro and I believe Ike needs to show up and get out of his funk. I believe that we have the advantage at every other position but I think Hamilton is special and cause problems if he gets going and the crowd gets involved.....

Wow. You guys are really underselling Hamilton IMO. Sure, Gibbs is the known enemy whose whole family torches us, but Hamilton is their most talented player and a matchup nightmare for us as he's very quick. And they have both pretty good three point shooting and speed which isn't great for us. Don't forget Purvis. Not saying we are going to lose but it's gonna be tough to say the least. Xavier is a better matchup in some ways because they just don't have that much speed outside of Sumner.

I really wonder if they will cancel this. I suppose NE is the one area that isnt going to get hit as most, so the team will probably head up today. I imagine many of the mid-atlantic games are going to be cancelled, though.

If both teams are there and the refs are there, they play. Just like the Nova game in 2010.

I'm looking forward to watching this from a cozy couch with the 50mph winds swirling 2 feet of snow around outside. Hartford should be well outside of the heavy snow area for this storm.

So when the Hoyas land in Conneticut the game play will be confirmed.

I saw something on Twitter last night indicating Georgetown was going to leave early Friday to ensure they would make it, so I think there's a very, very high chance we will have a game.

Shonn Miller, the grad student from Cornell, is super efficient offensively. Why go to UConn for graduate work, when you went to Cornell as an undergrad?

Getting there and playing the game shouldn't be a problem. Getting home on the other hand... No one is likely to be flying into DC on Saturday.

Xavier is a better matchup in some ways because they just don't have that much speed outside of Sumner. While he is really talented and will likely be a pro in the future, I think Hamilton's biggest flaw is that he sometimes tries to do too much. Right now he's not a terribly efficient player. However, on top of his speed, what he does add is really good rebounding from the guard position. But he is part of what I was talking about with the disparate offensive parts that don't always combine for a cohesive unit. This was Boatright's team last year and EVERYTHING went through him. Now Hamilton, as only a sophomore, is being asked to run a team that is comprised of two graduate transfers who sometimes have their own ideas, and Rodney Purvis, who often has his own ideas. When they play together, UConn can be a pretty formidable team because the talent is there. All in all, I think this is a winnable game because of their inconsistency and the fact that the key players haven't really played together all that much. If we assert ourselves early and don't have to play catch up, we should certainly be in good shape.

I will be representing Hoya nation proudly in person at XL! Just as I did as a 7 grader watching ZO and zeke! I was wearing a huge Hoyas parka and got beer thrown at me.
Those were the days. Hoping for a more civil win:)
