It's all about defense. When we hold our opponents to less than 65 points we are 7-3. When we don't we are 0-6.

Yankub Sima is out for a few weeks, so no reason why both our centers should not feast. If we can lock down Mussini we should win this easily.

I will be there supporting the Hoyas. I can't imagine St. John's will bring much of a crowd.

Need to get out of the gates early on this one and never let up. Big road game early in the conference season.

They looked reputable against Marquette. My guess is another tight one but it sure would be nice to see us run out early on them as I think they lack a little firepower.

I see they are 0-4 in the BE and have some pretty ugly OOC loses. So how bad are they? I saw a few minutes of their loss to Incarnate Word and they looked pitiful. I think announcer said they have 12 new players. Mullins did a complete dump. So does anyone know how we matchup?

That would be behind #208 Radford and #141 UNC-Asheville, but ahead of #253 Brown. We're #78. Basically, a loss to SJU might be our worst loss of the season.

Basically, a loss to SJU might be our worst loss of the season. So you're saying there's a chance . . . .

They had some good moments against Providence on the road. Everyone at SJU knows what is going on, so Mullin is under no pressure to win right now. I wouldn't sleep on them -- during Esh's last year SJU beat us in MSG with a bunch of walk-ons and second stringers. That was, um, a low point.

One thing to note is that St. John's hasn't performed terribly in their recent losses. They'll be really hungry for their first win of the conference so I expect them to give this game their all, especially since its at home for them.

It's realistically a must win. I know we have lots of chances against high-level teams remaining, but given the losses we already have, we'd put ourselves in the untenable position of needing to win both a bunch of those games and no further hiccups against even middling teams at home.
I'm not saying it will be easy: They haven't been blown out recently; few road games are easy; and we obviously haven't blown out even bad teams recently. It's not like these guys are significantly worse than UNC-C.

Our margin for error is really thin. A loss, while not devastating, makes the road far more difficult. We need wins.
