Stubhub can put you on the sideline in the "lower bowl" for about $65. God knows the SJU fans aren't fired up about this, but let's see if some Hoyas can get into it. Café 31 anyone? I will be there yelling for G-fense and begging everyone to "see the cutter" on O. www.stubhub.com/st-johns-basketball-tickets-st-johns-vs-georgetown-1-13-2016/event/9390454/PS: Prime opportunity to move Govan into the starting line-up in front of his NY fan base. He has improved his D and handling enough that he is ahead of BH in the "overall" game at this point. A start could lead to early foul trouble, though SJU is not too dangerous inside. Just a thought I am going to the game, but may not make it in time to hit Cafe 31 before...will try though.

i will be in attendance! does anyone have a few suggestions for good bars within a few blocks radius of MSG where i can go to "pregame" the game? There can only be one... www.cafe31nyc.com/Brother Jimmy's is a fine NY City barbecue joint, don't get me wrong, but Café 31 holds a lot of Hoya memories, good and bad. Plus, it's right across the street. Though I usually use it for Knicks/Rangers and other non-Hoyas events, Nick and Stef's is also not a bad place since it has its own private entrance into the Garden. You don't even have to go back outside into the cold, but just sneak out their back door directly into the bowels of MSG.

We should win. Would like to see Copeland reemerge and Derrickson and Govan with big games. If we get this one, we then really have a terrific chance with some momentum to turn our season around on Saturday. Win there, and we have life again.

I want the MSG magic to return. Hoyas v. Wisconsin and Duke in November were two of their best played games this season.

Watching those home team upsets really makes you hope for a big turnout this Saturday. Cant underestimate the impact of those arenas.

I just got done with a hearing before one of the great ball-breaking judges of the western world, who happens to also be the former father in law of the partner I was sitting in for, so I may just head to Cafe 31 right now. If5 anyone spots a besotted guy slumped over a stool in the corner, please rust me in time for the tip. But I won the judgment I sought, so victory is in the air for Hoyas today

So St. John's is elite at shot blocking even with Obekpa gone 2nd nationally. They're halfway decently at defending the 2pt shot 77th nationally and 77th in FT defense. In everything they're terrible. They're 302nd offensively. They don't take or make a lot of 3s and they turn the ball over worse than we do. So I guess we'll see a lot of press tonight and feeding the post, or are we playing fair tonight and will not try to turn them over and not use our advantage down low???

While I am not nearly as much of a fan of the press as some on here (simply because I think our personnel don't execute it particularly well, not because I have a problem with it in principle), St. Johns should be the type of team where we use it. After DePaul, JT3 said that it was a specific strategy to press DePaul and stick with it. We'll see what happens tonight.

I look at St. John's guards and I don't see anyone that can really exploit the Hoyas weaknesses. I'd love for Copeland to be active tonight, for Hayes to get that hook shot going, and for LJ to keep playing great while staying out of foul trouble.

- Start Govan. He's our best center, and he's getting better every game. His homecoming game is the perfect spot to make this move. Hayes becomes a very valuable weapon off the bench, used in spurts.
- Hope that JT3 has woken up and will start to acknowledge the new rules on defense, and that we will begin to modify our play accordingly. Thus far, we haven't changed our style of play at all - and we can't play it anymore and expect to win many games.
- Hope that JT3 has woken up and will start to acknowledge the shortened shot clock. Too many times this season, the team has been forced to heave up an ill-advised shot at the end of the clock. The offense, which already slows down each possession, has not been adjusted at all in response to the loss of 5 seconds on each possession. Not sure either of these issues can be fixed much this season, but a strategic/preparation nod to the new rules would be nice to see. In the offseason, he needs to take a long, hard look at his philosophy, and how it can be tweaked to fit the current environment
- Play Better. As spectacularly as our coach has failed thus far this season, he hasn't been helped out by his player's execution. There is talent on this roster - but it has barely been evident over the past month-plus. A middling opponent like St. John's offers a great opportunity to rebuild some confidence and build some momentum heading into what is — let's face it — a make or break game against a very good Villanova team this Saturday. Win tonight, and win that one, and we may have something to get excited about.
P.S. - this is as dead as I can ever remember this board being, even dating back to the Esh days. DFW, is my perception accurate? What's the traffic like for this board these days? Just seems like many die-hards have been driven off — either by the tone here, or the generally lackluster play of the team this season.

Some of us are around, but not posting as much. For me, it's more about increased responsibilities at work and two young kids at home than it is about the team's performance. But also the team not playing well makes the negative voices a lot louder on the board, and that has an impact.

Possible SJU starters: Federico Mussini (FR) 6-1 12.9 Felix Balamou (SR) 6-4 7.6 Ron Mvouika (SR) 6-6 8.9 Christian Jones (JR) 6-6 14.6 Kassoum Yakwe (FR) 6-7 6.2
Keep SJU from the easy lay-ups, control the boards, take care of the ball and show press. SJU is not a good FT team. Foul them if it means keeping them from the easy lay-ups.
