Amaker isn't as bad a choice as it seems. He did not CHEAT at Harvard. Get your facts straight. there was an academic scandal involving basketball players at harvard. he accepted kids that were very borderline academically and kicked kids off the team to make room for them. he was investigated by the ncaa for violations. he was a complete failure at michigan. calling him a cheater may not be totally fair but calling him an average at best coach and a guy with questionable character is fair. Wait, what happened after the investigation? You totally skipped that. But it's right to raise an eyebrow off of that. But to just blast the guy and say HE CHEATED is lazy.

This has been reversed already. If we change coaches, and it's Amaker, I will be extremely disappointed. I don't think Amaker is a better coach than JT3, even given JT3's recent troubles. Totally agree. I actually think JTIII is a better coach than Amaker. I was really hoping for someone young and hungry. Amaker is getting better with age and he's becoming a good motivator. However, Not sure I want him or anybody named so far on this board..

Maybe King Rice turned down the Duquesne job for this reason ;D If the change is made today, I'll be a bit disappointed it came to this. It'll now be 2 coaches that have been replaced under threat of protest. That is no way to run a basketball program or for fans to believe they need to act. I don't think Georgetown would ever consider changing coaches because of a protest. If our fan base had that much power and influence, there would probably be more than 65 students at most of our home games When Esherick was fired, they did it the day/night before an on-campus student/alumni protest was planned. I still showed up to the protest (which had a paltry 80 or less still arrive) as some of the Hoya Blue leaders asked us to express our dissatisfaction with many other aspects of the Bball program and its interaction with students specifically. Many of those concerns still resonate, though thankfully they have found more seating in the lower levels for students (albeit still behind the baskets). I remember that DeGioia wouldn't meet with the group (he had a "previous engagement"), so Dr. Porterfield (VP at the time) graciously invited everyone into Healy to the conference room and talked with the core group. I knew Dr. P pretty well, so even though I wasn't part of leading the group, I talked a good amount with him then and for the rest of my time on the hilltop about Gtown Bball and student life. The thing that seemed to surprise parts of the administration was how important we as students viewed the bball program and the athletic department to the overall experience of the school, that we didn't just want to be a part of the Ivy League. Dr. P seemed to understand that and agree with us, but it was clear quite a few in the administration did not see it entirely that way and would prefer to be more in the mold of the Ivies than a Stanford, Duke, etc. I always felt good knowing Dr. P would represent the student's in that view and then when he left to be President of Franklin & Marshall, that the Bball program was doing very well with JTIII and that they wouldn't let the school forget the importance of athletics in the student experience at Gtown. As Bball has deteriorated the last few years and outside of soccer, there aren't many highlights in athletics, I must admit I'm concerned that the admin will ask if it's worth it to continue to support at the level they have (especially financially). I don't know the admin now, so I don't know if there are any voices pro or con. In my experience with the school, though, they do seem to be incredibly aware of negative press related to student activity and to move quickly to try to prevent it or redress it. They don't seem to care about national media opinions, but whether it's the protest of the buildings named for Presidents who sold slaves or the Esherick firing, student activity seems to be one of the quickest ways to get the admin to pay attention. Would be interesting if they pulled the same thing here a day before the protest like they did with Esherick.
