First order of business would be to find a sucker to take on the rest of Werth's contract.
Unfortunately Rizzo can't can himself.

Balancing Rizzo's disastrous 2015 decisions is the fact that the farm system has been well stocked under his tenure, and we did win the division in '12 and '14 (playoff issues aside). But 2015 was a real screw up.

Home teams are 2-6 so far in the playoffs, with the only wins coming in the state of Missouri. An interesting start to the playoffs.

I hope Harvey hits him in the Adam's apple with 97.

Chase Utley definitely deserves to be drilled by a 100MPH fastball from Matt Harvey for taking out Ruben Tejada, but will the fear of getting thrown out prevent M.Harvey from doing it?? I'm guessing that the Mets will have a relief pitcher drill Chase Utley in Game 3 or they'll get him in his first at bat at Shea Stadium next year.

Watch for Bobby Parnell to plunk him in the 8th inning of a Mets 9-run lead Monday night. I'm jealous of my bro and others I know going to the game who will get to celebrate that moment!

Torre announces suspension for Games 3 and 4. Then states slide violated Rule 5.09. Yet somehow he was safe and allowed to score winning run.
Nice work Clueless Joe.

Joe Torre didn't blow this one. Second base umpire Chris Guccione did. The replay officials did.
It should have been ruled an automatic 4-6-3 double play, because of Utley's intent to interfere with Tejada's ability to try to turn the pivot. Utley didn't even begin to slide until he was past second base. Had he commenced his slide a step earlier, and broken Tejada's leg, there may well have been no suspension at all.
Utley is appealing the suspension, and a hearing is tentatively scheduled for 12 noon tomorrow. If he loses the appeal, the Dodgers will play a man short on the roster for Games 3 and 4. If he wins, it should be bedlam at Citi Field during player introductions. It appears, as well, that the MLBPA may try to get the hearing delayed. It seems unfair (as if anything else can seem unfair after that rolling block) that a delay in the appeal hearing can enable Utley to play, and then potentially sit out two meaningless regular season games next April if he loses.
The rule does not need to be changed. It needs to be enforced. The umpires failed miserably last night.

What makes any of you think that Utley will start tonight? He's not the Dodgers' regular second baseman - Howie Kendrick is. The Dodgers only acquired Utley because Kendrick and Kiki Hernandez were both hurt. Utley hit around the Mendoza line for the Dodgers, just as he did for the Phillies this year. Utley may play at some point, but if he starts, it's only because something is amiss with Kendrick. Utley could also play third if Justin Turner is hurting, but he's definitely a reserve.

The best revenge is living well. Mets need to beat them 2 straight in NY and watch Donnie Baseball get canned and Chase slink off into retirement with the lasting memory of his career being his umpteenth dirty play.

Anyone who thinks that the Dodgers are a lock to even win tonight is crazy. Greinke has had an unbelievable year, but the fact is that DeGrom outpitched both Greinke and Kershaw head to head this year. I don't think the Dodgers have scored against him. I'm hoping they'll eke out a 1-0 win.
