Probably but watching the tournament every year just drives home to me how good - and deep - Final Four teams are and how difficult it has to be for a school with our size, academic standards, facilities, and alumni base to compete with them. Especially when I see in this and other threads people complaining about JT3 and how our program stinks. Like I said only 7 small private schools like ours have made the final four in the last 30 years. But getting back to the tournament. Defense wins games and Dukes is great. So I pick Duke in a 68-63 squeaker. Also, as a Knicks fan I think the best NBA caliber player in the country right now is Decker. That's who they should take if he is available. In fact, if Wisconsin has any chance of winning Decker will have to play the game of his life (and he can). No sir…. You’re my man Quigs but that wouldn’t be a good look You knew this was coming. Picked winner, score and, like most of you, said Decker would be key. Too bad he saved this stinker for the championship game. Still like him on my team but wouldn't waste a top draft pick. Game probably cost him several million dollars.

If anyone was going to draft Decker on premise that he suddenly became a lights out shooter in the last 3 games of his career, LJ Peak should go pro too because he hit a bunch of threes in our last game.

Last night's game reiterated the fact that championship teams need good big man play and a top rate pg play. The last three champions have had small guards that took over the game at the end when the defense or fouls had hampered the big man. The HOYAS played Wisconsin tough and DSR scored a lot of points, but they lost. Duke won because they had guards who could hit the three but also could take their man off the dribble to the hoop. Duke also pressured the Wisconsin guards out front and they were( outside of Jackson) unable to get around them for the dribble drive and score or dish. A top rate pg in the college game, if you expect to win championships is not a luxury, it is a necessity. The HOYAS will miss DSR and his points but the success was always going to depend on Tre's ability to take over and play a high caliber point guard position. I think he has it in him. Let's hope the staff is doubling down on .Bracey for the next year

If you were worried that Duke was running out of players that everyone finds annoying, and are over-hyped, along comes Grayson Allen.

I thought the officiating was narrowly in Wisconsin's favor in the first half, and strongly in Duke's favor in the second half.
Between the two missed out of bounds plays and the terrible block/charge call, that was 7 points gifted to Duke down the stretch. That's a lot.
I usually hate talking about the referees. It's not fun, and I don't think Georgetown in particular gets bad calls. I think we foul a ton. But refereeing can really make a difference in a close game, and I thought it did yesterday.
Duke very well might have won anyway, but it would have been fun to see the end of the game without the officiating mistakes.

No matter what happens over the rest of his career, he'll still be able to say that he nearly single-handedly turned the national championship game in Duke's favor. Duke's frosh guards were incredible last night, and that includes Allen with his 4 point per game average. He also has the best vertical leap on the roster. I think he might turn out to be pretty good. Justise Winslow charged twice in the second half last night, resulting in one no call and one blocking call. He was totally out of control on both plays.

Bo knowsShocker that Bilas thought the officiating was fine. Bo Ryan complaining about officiating is like Jamie Dixon or Jay Wright complaining about officiating. Pretty much. The calls that he was complaining about were fouls all season. They just weren't called against Wisconsin. They were a good defensive team, but elite teams also get the benefit and they ran into a team that probably gets more breaks than anyone. Oh well.

I believe Wisconsin had the fewest fouls called on them during the season in Div I....if I am not mistaken. That probably doesn't result from randomness.

It's not randomness. It's a factor of good defense and being 37-3. But, in the tourney final, they played a team that was also 37-3 or so. Not as easy to not foul and play as well defensively.

They saw what Kentucky was able to get away with and decided to play really physical to knock Gosser and Dekker out of the game and beat up the Native American future superstar Koenig. This was all planned by Kyszewski because he wanted to force the refs into making difficult decisions in the biggest game.
