Big East gets a 1 ('Nova), 4 (GU), two 6s (PC and Butler), an 8 (Xavier) and a 9 (SJU). Glad the Johnnies got in, because it was looking bad earlier today. Probably dropped them drop from an 8. BE got 3 6's. Xavier pulled in as a 6 too. Misread my scrawl. Thanks for the correction!

::slides into your Bracketology thread like:: What's weird is IMO if our seed gets better, I think it increases our odds of playing somewhere far from DC. The 6-seed line has lots of 3-seed pairs like Maryland (a heavy favorite for Pittsburgh right now), Notre Dame (ditto for Columbus), and Iowa State and Oklahoma (I've seen both in Louisville and Columbus). The 4-seeds tend to be getting the leftover random cities w/o good teams nearby--namely Jacksonville, and the Portland and Seattle pods not occupied by Arizona and Gonzaga. You absolutely nailed that.

I assume Gottlieb flunked out of Notre Dame.

Quick overview on Eastern Washington: lost at Southern Methodist (77-68), won at Indiana (88-86), lost at Washington (81-77), lost at California (78-67) in early OOC action. The Eagles average 80.8 ppt, and shoot 40.3% from three point range (hmmmm).
Top three scorers are junior Tyler Harvey, 6'4" guard (22.9 ppg), junior Venky Jans, 6'7" forward (16.6 ppt) and junior Ognjen Miljkovic, 6'7" forward (10.0 ppg). No height to compete with Joshua Smith and Mikael Hopkins, or for that matter Isaac Copeland.

Gottlieb is being a horses ass as usual, but I am flabbergasted by the 4 seed. At no point during this season did I ever consider us a top 16 team in the country. God bless the committee.

I'm perplexed by the committee chair's reliance on the eye test. There's no way the committee watches every game every team plays. Teams have good games and bad games. Sure we looked like a 4 seed when we beat Nova by 20, but I'm gonna assume the committee missed us getting blown out by Xavier on our home court. Teams play enough games that they should be trusting more objective metrics.

Harvey seems a perfect matchup for Jabril.

I assume Gottlieb flunked out of Notre Dame. No, he was expelled for stealing his teammates' credit cards.

Here I've been saying all year how important the 3 point shot is and we get a team that averages 80 ppg and 40% from 3. Dear God....

Is there a reason no one has mentioned our potential sweet sixteen match-up with Duke? I can't for the life of me figure out why it hasn't been mentioned...

If the committee actually saw the Wiscy and Kansas game and writes off Xavier as a bad matchup then we are definitely top 16. Like for some reason Creighton owned Nova last year. Some teams have your number.

Eye test, schmeye test.
25 RPI
11 SOS
Beat one 1 seed and almost beat another.
No losses to any team NOT in the NCAA tournament.
Would not be surprised if our comeback Friday night nudged us up from the 5 line but it sounds like we were already a 4.
