2019 Javon Franklin update 2019 Arkansas offer Javon Franklin (6-7 combo forward, Holmes, MS, Community College by way of Little Rock Parkview) confirmed last Saturday that he expects to be off his crutches in a “few weeks” and that he believes he will take his official visit to Arkansas “in January, maybe February.” Franklin broke his leg in Holmes’ season-opener more than six weeks ago, and after he was given a three-month recovery prognosis he decided to redshirt in ’18-19, meaning he will have three years of playing eligibility at the NCAA Division 1 level beginning in ’19-20. Franklin is being recruited by Arkansas, Memphis, Auburn, Ole Miss, Kansas State, Georgetown, Seton Hall, Wichita State, and San Diego State among others. Franklin has always maintained that Arkansas is at or near the top of his wish list, and he confirmed that to still be the case last Saturday. www.hogville.net/2018/12/14/hog-coaches-expected-to-be-on-hand-for-battle-between-20-arkansas-offers-moore-and-williams/

Is Xavier Johnson the only 2018 recruit that came on an official visit and committed elsewhere? I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure Xavier Johnson only took an unofficial visit to Georgetown since it's so close. Based on my tracking, players that took an official visit for 2018 that committed elsewhere are: Immanuel Bates, Javian Fleming, Landers Nolley, and Jordan Phillips. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1CtUgTwapB5rCvc7Dm6GIMQ-GaSRoUUjB12mSM9evPC4/edit?usp=sharingCorey Evans @coreyevans_10 Virginia Tech wing Landers Nolley has entered his name into the transfer portal, a source tells @rivals. Corey Evans @coreyevans_10 Virginia Tech wing Landers Nolley has entered his name into the transfer portal, a source tells @rivals. Sat out this past season. Former Rivals150, four star prospect Sat out this past year for academic reasons. He could never get himself eligible. People around Blacksburg were extremely high on him before the season. Think it would be a tough road to get him eligible at Gtown though.

Think it would be a tough road to get him eligible at Gtown though. Not sure about the Nolley kid, his highlights were impressive and he has good size for a shooting guard, but there are likely to be a bunch more players that will be coming available in the next few weeks as kids de-commit/transfer. The recruiting process is never really over anymore until just before the start of the next school year when everything gets settled. I think the transfer market used to be considered kind of a last resort for filling out a roster for some programs, but there are so many good players now involved in this process that it would be foolish for any program to not be involved in the process and to hold a spot available for a possible impact player.

This one is going to be a push as the Team Loaded 17-under squad and Team Takeover 16-under brigade each brought home their respective championship trophies after an excellent few days in Las Vegas. The Loaded team is perfectly named as it is headlined by top-50 big men David McCormack and Armando Bacot, a trio of standout guards featuring Penn State commit Rasir Bolton, Princeton commit Jaelin Llewellyn and entertaining playmaker Mac McClung, and a bevy of hard-nosed wings including Mike Wynn, Jairus Hamilton and Kiyon Boyd. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/evans-awards-las-vegasJeff Borzello @jeffborzello Penn State freshman guard Rasir Bolton has entered his name into the transfer portal, sources told ESPN. Averaged 11.6 points during his first season with the Nittany Lions.

Corey Evans @coreyevans_10 Isaiah Mucius playing the part of a big time shot making wing. Unbelievable mid range game. Skilled with great size & talent in 2018 I want PE to go after this kid. We need more local talent, and none of his offers scare me too much. On Saturday, Wake Forest athletic director John Currie decided to relieve Danny Manning of his duties as head coach. That Currie felt the need to do so isn't necessarily a big surprise. Manning was considered to be on the hot seat during the 2019-20 season and had only finished better than 12th in the ACC one time during his six years in Winston-Salem. However, the time to do so was a month and a half ago when the season ended. Dismissing Manning in late April and in today's climate makes zero sense to me. It will give any candidates some pause when considering whether or not to take the job. The ACC is tough enough to win in as it is, and asking a coach to come in this late is asking a lot. They can't go out and watch potential recruits, school is closed and current team members are at home and more than likely restrictions on transfers are about to be lifted, meaning their roster -- particularly sophomore Isaiah Mucius and junior Olivier Sarr, should he decide to withdraw from the NBA Draft -- is in danger of being raided. Phew. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/starting-five-n-c-state-off-to-hot-start-in-2021

Bryce Hamilton 6’4” 2018 Pasadena (Pasadena CA)| Bryce is rapidly becoming one of the hottest 2018 names on the West Coast and his talent and vast upside is beginning to be recognized by national scouts. Lefty lead guard has the length, athleticism, scoring instincts, ballhandling skills and defensive prowess to be a high-major recruit. Bryce (who appears to be not done growing) was very impressive at this past December’s Tarkanian Classic in Las Vegas, averaging 28.8 points per game including a 35 point effort in a win over Sierra Vista/Las Vegas NV. This past week, Hamilton (who just turned 16 this past November) made his debut on a major national 2018 list when Rivals’Eric Bossi pegged him as the nation’s #102 junior in the 2018 Rivals 150. Dad Kevin played at UTEP for the legendary Bear Haskins and is the brother of Greg Hamilton (father of Gary, Jordan, Isaac and Daniel Hamilton). Schools showing interest include UCLA, Georgetown, Utah, Butler, Nevada, Cal, Boise State, UTEP, Hawaii, Santa Clara and Buffalo (where his older brother Blake is a 6-6 wing starter and leading scorer). I expect that list to grow before it shrinks, especially if Bryce’s strong play and continued development continues. Forms a Belmont Shore backcourt with 247Sports.com 2018 Top 50 David Singleton that is arguably as talented and versatile as any club backcourt in the West for the upcoming spring and summer season www.fullctpress.net/west-coast-stock-risers.html
