Defense needs to bring it. Nova does a great job moving the ball and has 5-6 players who shoot the 3 ball well.

Five players average 37% or better on 3s in their career and this season...thats pretty good.

I mean looking at those stats they have 5 players who have hit more than 12 3s this season and we have...1. And those players that "don't score much" are still a threat, score 5-10 a game and shoot well, and are on the court for more than 25% of the game.

Need the most complete 40-minute defensive effort of the year.

Because I have not seen Nova (mostly by choice as Wright makes my skin crawl) does their guard play still consist of throwing themselves into defenders and crying for calls?

Because I have not seen Nova (mostly by choice as Wright makes my skin crawl) does their guard play still consist of throwing themselves into defenders and crying for calls? Yes they are still the masters of the "shot fake/fall into the defender to draw three foul shot" move that Scottie Reynolds mastered. So frustrating to watch them do this over and over. Wright clearly coaches this strategy aggressively, because all their shooters do it. That being said - they are moving the ball really well offensively. Good spacing, quick passing. Better offensive execution than we usually see from Nova. Their outside shooting can be streaky, but they are a solid offensive team. The guy who is really starting to break out is Ochefu. He is becoming a versatile offensive player - scoring around the hoop on both post ups and cuts to the rim, hitting his foul shots, and a surprisingly clever passer. Good rebounder and defender. Ochefu is starting to look like an NBA player, unfortunately.

Up to big Joshua to get him in foul trouble.

Ochefu is a beast. There will be a battle down low as well. We match up well, but need our A game.

I can't explain why, but I have this vision of Peak and White both having very big games against the 'Cats. Maybe because they're due?

And those players that "don't score much" are still a threat, score 5-10 a game and shoot well, and are on the court for more than 25% of the game. We're not a good shooting team. At least not yet. They have one guy that is really good from 3 that scores more than about 5 points a game. Hilliard has some games when he's great from deep and others where he's really not. Sort of like DSR this year. Their defense is their biggest advantage against most teams. We're REALLY going to have to take care of the ball. And Joshua needs to have a big day against Ochefu. Ochefu can be really good but he can also disappear at times when he's not able to overpower his matchup. The good news is that I think DSR this year, because of all of his work in the offseason and his pride in his defense can handle Arcidiacono in the sense that he's not going to be able to blow by DSR that easily. I wouldn't be surprised to see Bowen get a good amount of minutes matching up with Hilliard and Tre seeing real minutes against Ennis. It should be an interesting matchup. If we play our best game of the year, we can win. EDIT: We have 3 guys that have 12 3's this year so far. That said, 12 3's at this time of the year means very little other than they're not really taking that shot.

I have not seen Nova play this year, but am familiar with the guys they have..Ochefu, Hart, Jenkins, Ennis, Hilliard, Pinkston, and Ryan A. Are these guys really that much more talented than what we have on our roster? I admit wearing Hoya colored glasses...but it just surprises me that they are considered such a juggernaut, ranked #5, 17-1. Not sure why we don't stand a good chance to beat em, especially at home. IF I am wrong...would love to get some information from the experts out there.

Wright is getting the most he can out of his squad. I'm not saying they're not talented. They absolutely are. But our guys have a higher ceiling (the freshmen). The Ochefu/Smith matchup will be fun to see if the officials let them play a bit. I'm concerned about Joshua being able to get up the floor in this one and Ochefu is a lot to handle for Hop. Should be a good one.

Don't know if this was mentioned in the butler thread, but Josh was playing with the flu. As a result, he was more gassed than usual. Hope he's feeling better.
Tmrw is going to be a war. I am assuming Nova will play mostly man, so we'll get to see our offense in action.
