To me he just has not gotten any better. Being a Senior he is a disappintment, and sometimes terrible, like I said before against cupcakes he is great, but when teams like XAVIER last night again. He reverted back to the turnover machine, bulldog to the basket and it always results in the samething, a travel, offensive foul, or turnover. Kid just has not gotten any better and has no business starting, or getting starter minutes. Lol he just crushed Nova....obviously selective much?

They won at Marquette without him, that says alot. If he was hurt he should of sat down, why hurt the team with your turnovers and trying to do to much? Seems the pressure is getting to be to much They won at Marquette, but struggled horribly. There's just as good an argument (a better argument, in my view) that if he was healthy in that game, they win going away instead of barely win in overtime. I'm not disputing that he didn't play well last night, and in hindsight, if his injury was a significant cause (as it seemed to be to me), then he shouldn't have played. But that doesn't change the fact that in the three games immediately prior to that, he was consistently very good. And those were key, critical games where the "pressure" was high and the opponents were good. They were merely against a top 10 team in first place in the league, a team now ranked in the top 25 that already has beaten us, and on the road against a team that maybe isn't really all that good but was playing well and was then in first place. Those were big games -- season defining games -- and he played just about as well as anyone on the team in all of them. So, to criticize him when he gets hurt and then lays one egg (perhaps as a result of being hurt) seems, frankly, absurd to me.

I get that we're all upset about last night but bashing our guys isn't helping. Jabril has been a great contributor in some recent big games.

His past numbers and play speak for themselves. Being good or ok every 6-7 games being a Senior is not ok. He caught some tough calls? He was a turnover machine all by himself, how many times did he get called for traveling? He reminds me of Bennimon, he does not know his limitations on offense and thinks he is better then he really is. All in all when he plays like that he hurts the team. He was awful last night but he's not "good or ok" every 6-7 games. In Big East play, he's shooting 59% from 2, going to the line a lot and shooting 44% from 3. He grabs 14% of d rebounds and dishes out a decent number of assists for a dude who doesn't play the point. He does turn the ball over too much, shoots poorly from the line, fouls too much and yes, he's really a role player, but you're completely wrong about "being ok or good every 6-7 games." Why isn't it enough to simply post "he had an awful game last night"? Why do people always feel the need to extend the awfulness of a bad performance? Jabril is a good player. He's not great. He's fundamentally a role player, which is not an insult. He had a terrible, horrible game. That's all.

The team needs a level of consistency from all the players especially the seniors. Six turnovers is not good. When things are not going well on the court, he reverts to playground basketball. No fouls. But this is the NCAAs. There is a rule book. And in that rule book, they have defined fouls. As a senior, he should be able to calm himself down as well as the team. This team has know real floor general on the floor when things start to go wrong.

Also: Jabril's never going to sit on his own. That's on JTIII and staff to sit his ass if the injury is an issue. Also: Was Jabril even our worst offensive player last night? There are surprisingly only two possible options.
Jabril, who accounted for roughly 6.5pts in about 12 possessions used, or Hopkins, who used 5 possessions and gave us absolutely zero points. Depending on your view of "replacement player" it could be either one, but I think Jabril "wins" this one.

Lol he just crushed Nova....obviously selective much? Blind squirrel gets a nut once in a while. Huh? Over Big East play so far, he's been our third most efficient player. He makes the most of his skillset. Sometimes he has a terrible game; this is true. I wish he wouldn't. But he hasn't been awful.

Had a bad NFC Championship. But at some point he calmed himself down and turned it around. When your car is losing control on a wet surface doesn't mean you go faster. He is a good player. SO slow down. Make sound decision.

SO slow down. Make sound decision. Well, that's a bit off-topic, no? Air Jordan's point was that he sucks and has 5 or 6 bad games for every good one he has. That's completely false. If you are agreeing with me on that, I guess we can move onto the Russell Wilson analogy. Of course, Russell Wilson is an all-pro quarterback who is both massively better at his sport than Jabril and much more experienced. He also would have had no opportunity to calm down and turn it around if the Packers hadn't made massive mistake over and over again. If Xavier made mistakes on the level of the Packers yesterday we likely win that. He also had a bunch of players around him also play well with -- he didn't engineer that comeback by himself; in fact, he's basically the only person who was playing bad on his team. Jabril was the worst player on a team of ty players yesterday. Xavier played well, the Hoyas played terrible, we lost. This isn't a lack of character. Yes, Jabril probably should have stopped trying to force it, but several of those turnovers were done doing the exact same things that worked so well against Nova. It's not that simple -- Jabril isn't a great player so he's playing on the edge a little. When he executes poorly, it looks like crap. But you don't know you're going to execute poorly when you start. And I don't think we want players shutting it down after a shot or two. I'm more upset about the lack of effort and focus -- which is on Jabril on the latter point -- but it's also on basically everyone who played for the Hoyas yesterday.

Now, he didn't light things up offensively in the second half (though he was 1-1 from three), but he obviously realized things weren't working for him, so he stopped trying to over do it. What more do you want in that situation?

The problem is he is a Senior and a starter, I truly believe the freshman are putting unbelieveable pressure on alot of the upper classman that their play becomes way to inconsistant because they are trying to do to much, ala last night. On one of Jabril's turnovers he had Tre Campbell wide open for an easy lay up but he blew him off and took off and bulldogged into the teeth of the defense where he traveled. I think the freshmen are putting pressure and the upper classmen seemed to be crumbling under that pressure. The freshmen put no pressure on anyone last night, so . . .

Seriously, this whole argument is absurd. The kid goes out and plays at clearly much less than 100% because he and everyone else knew we would probably need him against a big, physical team like Xavier. He played like crap. The whole team played like crap. Injury is no excuse but he was clearly in some pain. Prior to this injury he was playing his best basketball of the season and maybe the best of his career. He was dynamite against Villanova. All of a sudden he's a disappointment that hasn't gotten any better? Some people need to take their own advice and slow down - think about what you're posting before you post. You might save yourself from saying something stupid.

So now Jabril is Russell Wilson? I'm confused. NOO!!!! He's not Russel Wilson. Because you are having a bad game, doesn't mean you have to have a bad game. Calm down and turn it around. That's what champions do. This comparison is so far-fetched I'm having trouble grasping what you're trying to say. Russell Wilson still had a dumpster fire of a game in that game. The mere fact that he made one ridiculously easy throw to win the game hardly implies he "turned it around." Marshawn Lynch and some colossal mistakes by the Packers are why they won that game. That throw in OT was there because the Packers were trying to stop Lynch who had completely dominated them during the meltdown/comeback. They packed the box to try and stop him and left no safety over the top to help in coverage. Kearse beat Williams off the line to the inside and without any safety help, was wide open down the middle. Wilson made a throw that Geno Smith could have made. He was still remarkably bad in that game. They won despite his performance, not because of it.
