He needs to nurse his knee, watch game tape and think about his absolutely terrible play tonight, so that he can play better going forward.

Glad to hear he's feeling OK. Once he's 100%, he's got to start working on his game an play within his abilities. As Clint once said: "A man's got to know his limitations".

Nate Lubick did that. The problem is then you are playing 4 on 5 on offesne if the guy shuts down and never looks to score.

I want him to still be aggressive but when it is not your night doing X (tonight was driving for Jabril) realize you have other options and other people.

I'm not sure why you would want to take away that. He had opportunities for 3pt shots but passed them up multiple times. If you take away his drive you are just handcuffing him on offense like Nate Lubick last year. Driving wasn't his problem though, he got stripped in transition uncharacteristally 3 times this game, that was the big problem today. Credit has to be given to the KU Defense.

I agree about him being stripped and I don't want him to stop attacking the basket. I want him to take the open three or look more for the kick out. I don't want him to dribble as much when the defense is keying in on that. I think we are in agreement.

That's why you haven't improved at running since your injury I promise I'll read some old threads and think about my absolutely horrible posting last night so I can post better going forward. Trying to push Hoyatalk meta reference Superman jokes into a high traffic thread--what was I thinking?!?!?!?!?!

Anyone think he might be better off coming off the bench? His mind was moving way faster then his body early last night and took him a while to get into the flow of the game. Being able to sit and watch the first few minutes might be beneficial to Jabril for at least a few games.

I think Jabril's main problem is coming from the pressure that's being brought on by the internal competition.

Starting lineup is fine as is. Peak, White and Copeland are already getting major minutes and bringing Jabril off the bench isn't going to change anything. Jabril had a bad game last night, but the most important thing is that the injury he suffered isn't serious. We need him going forward.

DSR had a bad night too and has been inconsistent at best in scoring this season, where is the "Does DSR need to come off the bench" thread?

What was disconcerting was his lack of confidence in his outside shot. I don't think he took one 3pt shot, eventhough he was open several times. He took that shot against the lesser teams. After Radford the season does not get any easier. I thought his 3pt shot had improved, but if he does not have the confidence to pull the trigger then he will be a liability playing along side of Hopkins. The defense will be defending 5 on 3 (Smith, DSR, & Peak) either he can stroke the 3pt shot consistantly or he cannot. If he can not then White is a better option to start when they get to conference play.

I hope Trawick comes back from this injury, although much less serious, the same way as last season's broken jaw. I would not mind if he took Saturday off, re-focused, found that fire from the second half of last season and just played ball.
I agree with Daytona, I think the pressure of losing playing time to freshman may be contributing to Jabril's lower on-court confidence. I would like to see him take and stick that open 3. That is something the team needs more than anything right now. If he could just focus his energy on that, plus his typical in your face defense, he will not have to worry about playing time.

DSR had a bad night too and has been inconsistent at best in scoring this season, where is the "Does DSR need to come off the bench" thread? The reason I am saying this is because Jabril played better last year coming off the bench after his injury. Not because of inconsistent play.

I'm not talking about changing minutes breakdown (although I do think Bowen needs more then 3 min) but just having Trawick come off the bench like we did for a time last year after his injury. I'm sure his play improved due to the shooting drills he did while he couldn't go full contact in practice but I also think that starting the game watching helped him get into the flow of the team rather then pushing too much.

Trawick was god awful last night, but everyone else did enough to win the game easiliy, except that DSR was a no-show.
Can't have DSR so bad at critical times of the game. Very sad.
Would have won with a sub-par game from DSR, but could not overcome the horrible shooting game by DSR.
Too bad, because there won't be many games when everyone else is clicking so nicely. We had a lot of things come together last night. DSR, man, just killed our ability to win.
