You're in for at least four more months of this, so buckle up. That Nobel Prize winner who contributed to the Patriots' website has to be regretting it given how everything in it is going to be laughed off after the "deflator" excuse. I know the media is describing the "deflator" excuse that way, but that's simply because they either didn't read the website or they are stupid. The website says that the guy actually did routinely take air out of the ball so that it would meet Brady's specifications to have balls at 12.5. Thus, his reference to himself as a "deflator" would be consistent with that (i.e., consistent with legally taking air out of balls before the game and before the referee inspected them). Then, noting that the guy used the word "deflator" elsewhere in text messages in a clear context that showed he was referring to weight-loss, it also noted that the guy used the word two different ways at various points. The website never opines that this second weight-loss usage was how the guy meant the term in the one text they use. I found the website to be a clear and useful take-down of the various assumptions made in the Wells Report. I don't necessarily find it all credible, but I do think it renders the Wells Report equally discreditable.

With Tom Brady suspended for the 1st- 4 games of the season, is New England still the favorites to win the AFC East?

That would probably be cheating....
Not that they wouldn't cheat...

Since Tom Brady has been the starting the QB (2001), New England has only failed 2 times to win the AFC East...(2002) 9-7 and (2008) 11-5 the year Tom Brady got injured in the 1st quarter vs KC and was gone for the whole season.

Teams and owners have far fewer avenues available to contest league rulings. Also since the NFLPA is involved for Brady, not sure they would acquiesce to the owner's decision in any event.

I don't think that's ever true.

NFL Upholds Tom Brady's Four-Game SuspensionRoger Goodell has upheld Tom Brady’s four-game suspension for his role in the Patriots’ illegal deflation of footballs. Yeah, right. He he just happened to have the phone in question destroyed the day he met with Ted Wells.

Yeah that should cause Brady/NFLPA pause in filing litigation - don't think even a Minnesota judge will buy that explanation. Does not pass the "Smell Test".

The cover up worse than the crime scenario? Some have opined that Brady had a duty to reasonably cooperate in the investigation (no matter how flawed one may think it was). "While not spelled out in the Collective Bargaining Agreement, the NFLPA will concede, we’re told, that players have a duty to “reasonably cooperate” with investigations. Ted Wells explained in persuasive fashion during his Angry Ted Wells conference call from Tuesday that more-than-reasonable concessions were made to Brady, in order to protect the privacy of the contents of his phone." profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/05/14/brady-had-duty-to-reasonably-cooperate-whatever-that-means/
