I get your pique eagle - but man, you criticizing a poster for 100 posts making the same exact point is the classic pot/kettle scenario! At least you get my pigue and I do appreciate that. My point still hasn't been addressed adequately so it still needs to be made. I'll be our biggest cheerleader when we someday find some meaningful success. 2007 was a long time ago. 101 Mr Pot ....

You'll continue to get responses to posts like this because very few here are complacent or all-in supporting what's happened. Most posts have many caveats and nuances that aren't justifying post season failures citing regular season successes even though you choose to respond to them that way.

The nonsensical posts seem to be increasing for The Eagle. With one exception among posters here,I have seen little evidence of anyone promoting or supporting a fall into obscurity. The facts which he fails to see as evidenced by a few 1000 post regarding frustration with respect to the failure to meet certain expectations of success over the last 5 years is on the verge of delusional. To paraphrase from Hoya4ever unless you are all in on the immediate complete breakdown and reconstruction of the program, by default you must be promoting and advancing the fall into obscurity.

Friend, tracking and caring about who's "liking" various posts? Are you perhaps a middle school girl? I think you may need a break from the board - you seem far more invested in petty personal feuds with other posters than substantive discussion about how to turn around this program. Sorry to interrupt the substantive discussion on turning around the program as it has been riveting. Hoping you can add something of value at some point as I'm sure you've just been holding back. Maybe another hundred posts on Tre's expected contribution for next year and what he needs to work on will make us a top ten team that can win a tournament game. Your post has zero likes

It doesn't matter what you say to me, it matters what this school does to address our program's direction. I get I'm a minority on this board and your mission is to deter that from anyone who points to the reality of what we've become. This is a situation that needs to be righted and quickly, but we sit here and talk about transfers and other stop gaps versus big time recruits that aren't coming for another year. We've slipped and need to change that. If you've accepted what we are that's fine but don't speak out of both sides of your mouth that we should spend this much time on acting like this is a program that can compete for Final Fours and National Championships. Stay in your bubble Hoya fans.
Keep slurping the Kool-Aid as I know you're all proud of what this program has become. You sound like the same crew that makes decisions around judging our performance and getting a return on this program. Status Quo.

I don't know if you're a moron, or if you're intentionally trying to miss the point, BUT YOU DON'T GET IT! No one is trying to deter you from anything. People who disagree with you aren't drinking the Kool-Aid. Those on the other side of the debate from you aren't in a bubble. They're rationally taking a position that is far less negative than yours. So keep on focusing on the alleged motivations of others, and keep missing the point. You've become a joke on this board and it's gotten really tired. No one wants you to go away (ok, maybe some), but at least get some new material.

Hey there KC, good to hear from you and your infinite wisdom. You calling someone a moron and telling them they are missing the point? Well that's really "rich" of you and a good way to handle a discussion. Thanks for that.

Eagle , I am searching my (admittedly deteriorating) memory bank to recall a post or a poster that has claimed that you should not be allowed to post your opinion of the program, and more particularly of the coach; I can't recall one, and would ask you for a reference if it did happen.
Have you been "shouted down" (Internet version) at times for your opinion? At times, certainly. I would suggest that you have "shouted down" those who disagree with you just as often, but I must admit I have not kept a running tally. But when you take a position that many consider extreme, you have to expect - and accept - extreme disagreement. Of course the discourse could be a little more civil - but unfortunately that concept apparently died the day Mr. Gore "invented" the Internet.

Time to close this thread? I come here to read about GU hoops, not to witness personal quarrels. You're right. Ridiculous. But it's not really personal quarrels. it's just one poster who hijacks every thread with apocryphal stories of martyrdom. It has gotten really old. But that's his schtick. I don't understand why it hasn't been identified for what it is - trolling. People just have to learn to ignore it. Back to Tre -- I was a little surprised that this post from B&G didn't elicit more discussion: "Just want to say this about Tre. He's one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet and he is the ultimate teammate. While Tre showed some flashes as a freshman that he might develop into a BE level starter....he was never recruited as that. He often struggled to score or take over a game at the high school level. We've been trying to recruit a lead guard ever since he stepped foot on campus and Tre has tried to help in that cause by touring kids around on their visits. Would it be great to see Tre play more games like he did against Xavier...sure it would. But demanding he plays that way just shows how little some of you know about our team and the game. " What surprised me is that the staff never recruited him to be a BE level starter, yet had no real plan for ball handling the last two years?! So the plan all along was for DSR to be that guy? Disappointing, since anyone who follows the team or DSR knows that he was and would have continued to be much more effective off-the-ball.

I presume the plan was to successfully land one of the many top guards we have recruited; unfortunately the plan was not successfully executed. Perhaps a basis for the shake up of the staff we have seen?

I mean, the way I see it, who cares what the staff recruited him as? Recruiting staffs across all sports miss the mark regularly. I'm sure Tre doesn't see himself as a career backup, nor should he.

Lost in all of this is that Tre is not the only player who failed to make the improvement expected last season. Not saying he will this year or ever, but Copeland was inconsistent, LJ came on late after some very uneven performances, Reggie started fast and faded, White missed the season, Hayes missed a crucial stretch of conference games, and Trey showed some flashes when given the opportunity. There are so many reasons for a season like this past year and while improved guard play by Tre (and others) would have helped, so too would better rebounding, coaching, shooting, passing and defense. Everyone connected with this team had a poor season. There have been lots of changes---new players and coaches coming, White and Hayes returning and hopefully better results.
