One good season and they forget how badly they have SUCKED the last few years. Reading that message board was awfully confusing. You'd think that a fan base of a team that has failed to make the tournament in the four years proceeding this one (and didn't exactly make a splash this year in the post season) would ease off a bit on calling a team that has been far more successful recently "irrelevant." Maryland fans are suffering from a collective delusion of relevance.

For all the hand-wringing on this board about our tournament performance, UMD hasn't made it to the second weekend since 2003.

Sky sometimes says some head scratching stuff! I don't think he was being serious. On the off chance he was, it's ok, because it's funny in a different way, then!

Maryland will be good next year, but I think they are really going to miss Dez a lot, especially early. He covered up a lot of flaws for them.

I don't know, I heard earlier in the week that we have road games in College Park and Storrs next year, and I'm much more terrified of losing and falling under UMCP's shadow

All I have to say is please, PLEASE don't schedule the Verizon game right before or during Thanksgiving break! I was at the '93 game, and it was right at that time, I believe. That made it a de facto Twerp home game because most GU students go home -- which isn't DC, VA, or MD -- while for the Twerps, home is right here. Of course GU might not get to set the date, but it would be horrible if they played our home game in front of just a couple hundred students.

Great news. It should be an exciting game. I say play anyone, anywhere, anytime.

All of these games are the first games of the year for each team so that shouldn't be a problem.

It's not 100% clear that the 16-17 game will be part of the Gavitt series and, thus, the first game of the year. In any event, we're going to have to make a concerted effort to control the arena as best we can, similar to what we've done for other "big" games, although the task will be more difficult. We're not going to keep them locked out, but if we can have the clear majority of fans, that would be good.

If there's one thing we've learned over the years, it is that GU has an uncanny ability for scheduling the biggest home games on dates where the crowd will be the worst.

It stinks that it's not a home game, but the upside is that we'll be a marquee game to start the season and we'll get plenty of exposure on ESPN. Plus, we can beat them, and get a top 10 win on the first day of the season on ESPN. That'll be great.

ESPN reports that the 16-17 game WILL be part of the Gavitt series. So, it would not come during break. Sure, it could still be opposite a Redskin game or something, but that would effect both teams' fans. Shouldn't be any issue trying to get a lot of our folks in the building.
