Well, some of it may be timing. Creighton and Nebraska obviously are in-state rivals, but they may not want to play one another right at the start of the year and presumably already have a contract in place. Butler and IU play at least every other year in that Indiana state event, so that may be an issue with them. Don't know what Marquette/Wiscy will do.

Good god. The leaked matchups so far are horrendous for the Big East--getting the mid-major treatment. Creighton-IU Nebraska-Nova St John's-Rutgers Illinois-Providence It's almost like the Big 10 is actively trying to hurt the Big East's strength of schedule

As the marquee name, we're very likely going to pull a strong team. Wonder if we/UMCP put a restriction on a GU/UMCP matchup.

I mean, St. John's has not been projected to be great, but I still think they have a good chance at beating Rutgers. Would it be better to get slaughtered by someone else? And Villanova can probably beat Nebraska pretty handily. The entire Big 10 will have a good Strength of Schedule in the end, so it's really not a huge deal.

My take reading the CBS Sportsline article is that's it, the series is just 4 games next year. I'll admit I didn't read the article very closely, though. Almost seems like the Big Ten is giving us some of their dregs to help prop up the RPI of some of the weaker sisters in the conference. Not real sure what the Big East gets out of this if the 4 games is indeed all it is.

Nope, it's eight games per year for eight years. So, two BE teams won't play every year. All of the BE teams get to play at least six times (and if my math is right, four teams will play seven of the eight).
So, still four match-ups to go for next year.
Xavier fans report they are playing Michigan, so if that's true, that's another game that doesn't involve the logical regional match (Ohio State). You've still got possible regional matchups with Butler (Purdue) (although the Crossroads event might preclude it); Georgetown (obviously); DePaul (NW); and Marquette (Wiscy). That just leaves Seton Hall -- and really, they're almost as close to Penn State as Nova as, so matching them wouldn't be idiotic.
As noted, two of those teams won't play this year.
Assuming they're going to mix and match year to year and not have Georgetown play Maryland every year for example, they might be trying to only have three or four "marquee" match ups each year so no one year is overwhelmingly crappy.

Don't know where just yet.

So does the 2008 Old Spice Classic not count as the "regular season?" 75-48.

Is there a reason we couldn't have, you know, agreed to play them in a year when they aren't widely expected to have their best team since 2001 when, you know, we also were forced to play them?

It's nice they finally have a team worth playing. Not so nice that it is being reported as at College Park.

So if its played at Verizon, the game is on FS1, but if its at College Park, it will show on either ESPN or BTN. I cannot imagine the open rooting that will occur by the Worldwide Leader if they get the rights. Surprised FS1 wouldn't fight for a better matchup to host.

I think this is great. All upside for Hoyas and hopefully the start of what will become a marquee annual event on the DC area sports calendar

Barely anyone stumbles upon the FS1 games. Getting on ESPN in a marquee game is good for the program.

So now we have a home and home with Maryland, Syracuse, Connecticut and Kansas. We've been asking for better out of conference home games forever. Don't see how you can ask for much more than this.

Yes it appears return game will be on FS1 and if it is picked up by BTN I believe Fox is now producing those games too!
