I like that Cooley kicked them off the team, despite their talent. I'd love to know why the details came out now, not earlier, which forced Cooley to say something public about it for the first time.

Because newspapers will often hold stories until the moment when it will garner the most page hits/publicity and cause the program in question the most amount of discomfort/questions to create a media firestorm.... it's a pretty common tactic....

We were 39 points better than Xavier for 65 of the 80 minutes we played them this year (we won in DC by 22 and were up 17 in Cincinnati with 15 minutes to play). The collapse at Xavier was epic and the fact that JT III went home that night with three timeouts left in his pocket is one of the most baffling coaching nights I can remember. That 15-minute stretch was the difference between us being safely in the NCAA Tournament and us being in the NIT. Long winded way of saying yes, I agree, we are better than Xavier. Well, we weren't better than Xavier when we lost to DePaul. Or Seton Hall twice. That's what I was thinking when I said, "Sometimes". But Xavier didn't scare me at all, and as you point out, we choked that game away.

It's much more fun watching these early round NCAA games without having to worry about being upset for the umpteenth time. I feel no guilt cheering for Dayton and American at the moment and am actually excited for new teams to feel our pain of being cinderella-ed. I was thinking the same thing. Cant wait to root for W. Michigan.

It is explained in the article: Though the alleged incident happened in November, the report states the allegations were brought to police within the last month.

Dayton misses two FTs in a tie game, just over a min left.

That's that Vee Sanford runner. Hopefully he can pull off some more of that in the next round.

And the man who couldn't get off our bench takes one of the best defensive guards in America off the bounce for the winner.
