The great majority of the fan base realizes the program needs to add another ball handler for next season.. I'm not confident at all in them landing a 5th year guy so I'm hoping the staff starts beating the bushes for leftover 2016 kids.. Lead guard types like Dmitrik Trice or Leland Green or Godwin Bohean.. Combo types like Eron Gordon or Marcus Ottey.. There's also Alpha Diallo & Deshawn Corprew but they're longer shots bottom line is kick the tires on anyone at this point.. If folks want explosiveness check out Ottey.. He has offers from schools like VCU, DePaul, Wichita State and interest from some P5 schools too.. www.hoopseen.com/index.php/news/headlines/itemlist/tag/Marcus%20Ottey

VJ King at Lville, Jaylen Fisher at UNLV and Charlie Moore at Memphis could all be interesting assuming coaching changes at Lville & Memphis. Lots of moving parts and I wonder if we are in the mix. Two of those three fill an immediate need.

I hope he never goes to FGC, in fact we could've used him in that game. With a kid like that dressed in Blue and Grey they would have been known as Punk City for all there antics.

Kyran Bowman? Yes please. This is a case where rankings don't matter. He has exactly what this team is lacking. Physicality, grit, toughness, can defend, etc. Imagine he and Jagan in a year or two. Wow, I hope the staff has seen this kid's film

Eric Bossi was tweeting about this kid last night.. There are prospects left in the 2016 class, not sure why the staff isn't chasing them..

I'll toss a name out I guess Brian Starr #2 in blue 6'3 pg who plays for Colby has gotten some MM+ looks Iona and others The Kansas City, Mo., sophomore led the Trojans in points (14.3) and assists (7.1) per game, and also averaged 5. 6 rebounds. Starr is scheduled to graduate in May and has not decided where he will play next seaso - See more at: www.colbycc.edu/athletics/teams/mens-basketball/mens-basketball-news/attia-and-starr-earn-honors#sthash.rZDuEzWr.dpuf#2 in blue Pretty active from the jump and seems to have a really nice feel for where to go with the basketball 37 7 and 5 in this game against Oklahoma commit Darrion Strong

Starr did not have the same exposure as other multi-tooled point guards of his fabric, rarely playing before jam-packed crowds. Had Starr's game blossomed smack in the middle of a hoops hotbed such as New York, D.C., Baltimore, Chicago, L.A., or Indiana, his path would have been entirely different. He didn't have a wealthy street agent or AAU team owner/power broker promoting his game or carting him around for campus visits. Starr didn't have a high-profile personal trainer running him through arduous workouts and advocating for him through social media. What he did have, however, was endless film on Allen Iverson and Chris Paul and a thirst for point guard knowledge. Analyzing, dissecting, and ultimately emulating Iverson's crafty handle and manipulative one-on-one moves, Starr took meticulous mental notes. Observing Paul's basketball IQ and know-how and natural ability for finding kick out shooters and bigs, the 19-year-old Starr developed a purity of vision. Iona, New Mexico, Drake, Mercer, Northern Colorado, and a variety of mid-major programs have expressed interest in the 6-foot-3 playmaker, the no.2 ranked point guard in Missouri as a senior at Fort Osage. "He sees the plays before they happen, he's got a unique ability to understand the play before it unfolds," said Colby assistant Kevin Jolley. "Brian has grown as a point guard. Knowing where guys are and knowing where guys are scoring the ball has helped. So, putting them in a good position helps his game grow. Being able to get into the lane and finish with contact helps. It's hard for a guard to guard him." That much was evident during Starr's performance in a dizzying 85-81 loss to Coffeyville. The game's intriguing subplot was Starr v.s. Coffeyville's Darrion Strong, an Oklahoma commit. The game lived up to its heavy billing and hype. Starr scored 37 points, doled out seven assists, and ripped seven boards in 30 minutes. Starr shot 11-for-20 from the floor, solidifying his status as one of the nation's top unsigned JUCO guards. Strong scored 29 points, including 13-for-15 from the free throw line. Starr's numbers have increased from his freshman year, with his assists shooting up from 5.1 per game to 8.9 (fourth in the country). He's averaging 14.9 points, taking scoring responsibilities into his own hands with 24-point performances against Northwest Kansas Tech and Butler. zsmart.blogspot.com/2016/01/colby-has-starr-power-with-multi.html

Eric Bossi was tweeting about this kid last night.. There are prospects left in the 2016 class, not sure why the staff isn't chasing them.. Seems like JT3 and staff believes an upperclass guard like Mulmore or a 5th year free agent point guard is a better fit to the roster going forward then adding an unknown or under recruited high school senior. The non existent news of the staff looking at high school or prep for a point guard speaks loudly that either they don't believe there is anyone at that level that can absolutely help immediately or they feel an upperclass PG with the current roster is a better fit then a freshman and the learning curve that comes with being a freshman playing in the BIG EAST. I personally think that an upperclass PG is a much better fit then a high school or prep kid this late in the 16 class. I like Kyran Bowman a lot and think he has the talent to be a very good high major guard. He is very underrated because he switched from football to basketball so late in the process so he hasn't garnered the attention that his talent deserves. The reason I don't think he is a fit because of this team's need for an immediate starter/25 minutes a game at PG next year. As hard as it is to believe after this dreadful season that has just concluded, this team if completely healthy is built and ready to win next season. It's major whole is at the PG position. The team can't put its success on Tre Campbell who needs A MAJOR summer of work and IMO isn't a true or complete PG nor is it fair to put all that pressure on Jagan as a freshman even though I think Jagan will have a good freshman year. Other then Kyran Bowman (who has the athleticism and upside) there are really no other high school/prep kids that are uncommitted that can play at the BIG EAST level from day 1 and none that can start & play 20 plus minutes a game. I live and work in Tampa and one of my good friends nephew plays at IMG so I have gone with him to see IMG play. D'mtrick Trice CAN'T PLAY at the BIG EAST level. Everything about his game screams low to mid major level player. He is a smaller, slower version of Tre Campbell in the sense that his best skill is a catch and shoot player. He doesn't know how to use picks well in PNR and he can't get down hill into the lane or beat his man off the dribble well at the prep level. That's why as a prep kid he has mostly low to mid major offers.

completely with you. Also I'm irrationally hoping this is a sign of confidence in the Lykes recruitment.

Starr sounds like he could be a steal. It's not easy landing the JUCO and 5th year kids, they have TONS of teams after them.

Good call on Trice 4ever, I've never seen him play live.. He reminds me of Wallace actually.. I do think kids like Ottey or Jordan Bowden or Eron Gordon or Devonta Jordan can play in The BE and I'm sure there are other kids too.. Part of what ails the program is lack of roster balance both in positions and class bringing in another Soph/rising jr. is shortsighted imo..

Part of what ails the program is lack of roster balance both in positions and class bringing in another Soph/rising jr. is shortsighted imo.. Mulmore has a better chance to be ready at the beginning of the season then an unproven incoming freshman will be. Mulmore has played really well against 18-21 year olds which is much more impressive then any high school kids still available. This team needs a guard who uses ball handling as a weapon, meaning that they can use it to get into the lane, create perimeter space, and hold defenders for a split second in PNR to where he has them at his mercy. We don't have a PG on the roster who has the handle and foot speed to put pressure on the defense. Unless someone decommits from a high major, your not going to find that at the high school/prep this late in the 2016 class. Like I said previously, if everyone comes back healthy and you add the right kind of PG to the roster, we are a really good team that's back competing at the top of the BIG EAST Conference and a top 4 seed in the NCAA tournament. Adding a mature skilled PG to the roster is the most important thing the staff needs to accomplish heading into next season. Regarding Trice, I could see where you see Wallace in Trice in terms of ability to catch and shoot but that's where it stops. Trice is so slow with foot speed and lateral quickness. I also think the way the Hoyas are currently constructed he can't help in any way. Eron Gordon, Marcus Ottey and Jordan Bowden can possibly play in the BIG EAST but they won't be impactful their freshman year in the conference IMO. They can be a piece in spot minutes as freshmen who have their moments but won't put you over the top. We are built to win now if we get an impactful player at the PG. I hope the staff use the scholarship on a transfer JUCO/5th year PG and then get someone that has a ton of question marks about them. You want to limit the amount questions regarding who ever you bring in. A proven upperclassman does that.

What you're describing in that 1st paragraph is very lofty in my view, even highly rated kids would have a hard time meeting those types of expectations.. Let's be real at this stage in the game the chances that the staff lands a kid who'll put G'town over the top is very slim so to me I would look at a longer term view.. I'm definitely in the search for freshman camp, I believe that's the way to build a solid program.. I think the staff gives up way to early in this regard.. As I've mentioned a few times lately kids like Galen Robinson or Otis Livingston Jr. would have helped G'town this year.. I saw both play several times & they're both better ball handlers/facilitators than Tre or Kaleb.. Neither are bouncy or crazy fast, they just know how to play.. I think that trait gets overlooked way too often..
