Great defense on Cotton the second half, used multiple defenders to make him work and wear him down. Let's do the same with Harrison Saturday.

Well played by all the Hoyas, only 5 turnovers, great FT shooting at the end. And who is this guy wearing Trawick's number? He is playing unreal right now. That injury definitely settled him down, another game with impact plays by #55.

Ball handling was exceptional tonight. No forced plays. A few rushed shots by Starks, but keeps defenses honest I guess. Lubrick had a great game again. DSR steady throughout. I was ready to throw something at Hopkins tonight because he always seems to irritate the hell out of me with those close misses. Starks was good, but Trawick was the difference tonight for me - great defense and made PC pay at the line. Refs missed a lot of calls I thought (both ways). Great win. Move onwards and upwards!

Trawick seems to have realized at the perfect time that he is capable of leading this team to some big wins. Great to see.

Great games by DSR, Nate and Bril, strong game by Kel, very solid contributions by Aaron and Reggie, good D by Hop, even a bucket by Moses. If we can get contributions from that many guys every night . . .

Bril forced some things early, but he settled down and made some great plays. He also is playing solid fundamental defense without as much of the over exuberant toughness that just leads to fouls.

Can we give JTIII some credit, he's going to 4 and 3 guard lineups and they're tough to handle - not all can be guarded. Couple that with the fact that shooters are getting open looks or they're using leverage/athleticsm to attack the rim... i keep saying if Hopkins can make shots - he should realize that once you make the creative move to get open, then look the ball into the square, soften it up a little, kiss it off the glass - BE AWARE THAT DEFENDERS ARE AROUND YOU....anyway, if he can make shots, this team can do something major in the post-season... GU is top 2 or 3 in the conference.

Congrats to Nate Lubick on the game tonight. He played under control, took 3 or 4 charges, rebounded and passed well. He has taken a beating on this board and is a senior who is playing like one!

I have to be honest, this was a game I was really worried about. I'm so relieved we got the win. We've got a monster game in Madison Square Garden on Sunday!
Lets Go Hoyas

Agree. He made some awful plays/decisions early but redeemed himself late. He clearly does not like Cotton (the player... not sure about the material).

I like the option of Reggie down the stretch for free throws. This group needs to win close games and that skill is very helpful with this group.

Cooley sounded pretty annoyed and surprised they lost that game. I can't blame him. We really played a different game the last 8 minutes or so. We just did almost everything right. Even the fouls against us, I thought, were pretty questionable. That DSR rebound away from Derosiers was just awesome. I suppose PC lost some steam, but it's not like we got home cooking on calls or made lucky baskets. Great win.

I left work with us five down in the 2nd half. When I came home and first saw that Provy had 71 pts, I didn't have much hope; then I saw the big 83 for the Hoyas. Whew!!! Going to the stats, a major part of the win was only 5 TOs, and again (for the 4th game in a row), we outscored the other team in FTs. 80% tonight. And we ended with a practical draw in RBs, losing the battle by one. Let's keep this train going!!!

Exactly. Hopkins should be told to put the ball off the glass. If he can't make the swish or the dunk just put it up in the square. Nobody seems to play that way anymore. Greg Monroe could do it with great effect. I guess it is too old school. I love Hopkins on defense but he just can't finish on offense unless it is a dunk and even then it can be a challenge.
DSR played so well tonight. Out-rebounded some very tall Providence front court players. Markel with the dish to Nate on the follow-up was a thing of beauty. Cameron played his best minutes tonight. And I loved how Jabril took away Cotton's dribble move to the right in the second half the way he set up on defense. He was going to let him try and beat him going left (must not shoot as well from that side) but not going to his right. Nate had rebounds in key situations and was solid despite his point total. Liked his shot from outside. Nice to see four players in double digits tonight and 20 bench points. They had that huge drought in the second part of the first half after scoring 27 points in short order they just couldn't buy a bucket. Glad to see the team suck it up and grind out the win. Keep on rolling baby.

We won the game by going to zone and took Cotton out of the Zone he had been in. We continued to make some shots. Who said we couldn't shoot free throws.

First let me say that when I saw Markel hit the deck clutching his knee, I literally said out loud "our season just ended." In this age of catastrophic knee injuries, that was about as devastating a sight as there could have been. Seeing him shake it off might have been one of the biggest "phew" moments I've ever experienced.
I guess it's not a coincidence that we rip off 4 wins in a row just as multiple role players start playing their best ball of the season. Markel had a solid impact on the game, but earlier in the season if he goes 6-15 (2-10), there's little chance we beat a team with the talent of Providence. In fact, that already happened once in the first game against the Friars. Solid contributions from Nate, Mikael, Bowen, and especially Jabril. Reggie knocking down key FTs at the end. Just a great team win.
I'm sure Markel's knee will be a little sore tomorrow. At least he's got 5 days to rest up for D'Angelo and Co. Huge game.

Critical win going into MSG this weekend, although taking a half hour to play the last three minutes drove me a little nuts. Late threes by Bril and DSR. And the guys on FS1 did a pretty good job, for what that's worth.
But someone needs to explain "don't foul" to Hopkins.
