According my sources this week was the final straw.

It's just a crying shame. I am shocked. I don't quite understand why some people are not that all surprised by the news. I think most people are curious as to the actual reason he was dismissed, but his presence amongst the team has been inconsistent all season starting with MM and I think some of us did a little reading between the lines. The signs were there.

Horrible news. Future of the program just got a lot less bright. I wish Greg the best, but I am reeling. I would certainly appreciate a PM as well.

Like I said, he was dismissed prior to the VCU and sent home packing. We all love GW but truth is he was a wild card. You simply couldn't rely on him off the court. Too bad. Deep down a good kid and really wish him the best. I know we're supposed to say he's a "good kid" but he never proved that at Georgetown. He wasn't a good student, certainly wasn't a good teammate. Wasn't a good teammate? And this is based off what? You being his teammate or being boys with his teammates?

It's just a crying shame. I am shocked. I don't quite understand why some people are not that all surprised by the news. Michael Graham, as long as we are not confusing "disappointed" with "surprised", I don't find that odd. He was academically ineligible 2nd half of last year. When was the last time a key Hoya starter lost eligibility due to academics? Lee Scruggs? There have been lots of rumors since about GW, grades, distractions, etc. I think everyone on this board is disappointed -- for the kid and for the team. But surprised? not really. Too bad.

The future of the program is just fine. Let's stop being overly dramatic here I would take Greg over any of the recruits. And getting him back would have been like adding a superbly talented and experienced recruit. This dismissal is a huge blow to the program. They can overcome it, but it is a crushing shot.

I think we all were hoping for the best. Hoping he would be ready to come in and lead the incoming class next year, but honestly he has not played since last year. The program will be fine. I would like a PM as well

Crushing shot? Greg hasn't played a game since Jan of 2013. How exactly is he not playing a "crushing shot"?

I kinda agree with you Daytona but realistically bringing him back is the easy & logical thing to do because he knows the system.. At this late stage the staff isn't going to find a better option in the '14 class Whittington, Porter and Josh Smith were better options found at much later dates than November. Kind of ironic/weird that you mention Whittington being a "good" late option commitment in his dismissal thread.. GW leaving opens up a 2nd spot for next season and since the staff hasn't been actively recruiting anyone in the '14 class for awhile now it makes sense that an effort will be made to have AB back next season..

how is it really crushing. All we really ever saw was potential. Too many people here think we lost a lottery pick. That was a fully healthy Whit. Yes a loss but maybe we can find a guard or a center with the extra scholly. Please please don't give it up for another redshirt wing.

I would like AB to move on. Copeland, White, Domingo and Cameron are more than enough. More than enough. You need to be skilled to excel in this offense, and AB is not skilled. Don't want him around to take minutes from anyone who has a bigger upside - which in this case is every single name that I just mentioned.

He could be a force while scoring in single digits. Losing GW is a big deal.

I think we were all banking on Greg playing with a hunger that accompanies getting a THIRD shot next year (following the suspension and an injury). That, combined with his potential on the defensive and offensive ends, was tantalizing and would have been a nice complement to the pieces we have returning and coming back next year. Here's hoping our incoming wings and a sophomore Cameron can fill the void. If he's not coming back, I think we go all in on recruiting another PG (not convinced Campbell is our future) or C. ADD ME TO THE PM LIST AS WELL PLEASE. Would like to know the circumstances that unfolded generally these last few months and /or what was the final straw in Puerto Rico.

This years team is playing the entire season without him. He's not here to create a loss. There is no adjusting without him, because he's not here. There is no losing him, because he was never on the floor to begin with. You're really overlooking this.

This is not a crushing blow. It hurts a bit, yes. But imo, this is essentially the same as a recruit decommitting. All we're losing is potential that will never be realized at Georgetown. He hasn't played in almost a full calendar year and Thompson has clearly moved on when you look at where his recruiting priorities turned after Whittington's mishap last season. I am wholly confident that some combination of Copeland/Cameron/Domingo/White/Peak can make up for what we're losing in Whittington on both sides of the ball. Greg would have been gravy, but the meat and potatoes of this team next year and beyond is still pretty drool-worthy.

IMHO AB is skilled; a great defender and can do better than he's displayed. Much better. He's a late bloomer type. If we're using that theory, then Nate shouldn't be on the team - and he's STARTING. On another note, aren't you being a little tough, rockhoya?

What a damn shame that Greg squandered his opportunity with Georgetown. I really hope he gets it together and comes out of this stronger on the other side. Good luck Greg.

On another note, aren't you being a little tough, rockhoya? Nope. Can't shoot. Can't dribble. Can fly around and be a garbage man. But at the Big East level, he has no business playing more than 10 minutes a game. Definitely can't play in our offense. When he's on the floor, teams don't even bother guarding him.
