From a cashing in perspective you couldn't really ask for a better two schools to have competing over you.

Good luck to him. I am not surprised at the choice.

Am I the only one that cheers when these top ten type kids pick a school other than Kentucky, Duke, Arizona & Kansas? It is a haters attitude but one I embrace fully.

And not purely to be a hater. Competitive balance and seeing different schools be able to compete is more exciting to watch. Seeing the same schools gobble up all the talent using questionable means year after year just leaves me bored and so I watch much less college basketball.

Nah. To me he wussed out. I feel the complete opposite. I think it's wussing out going to a 1 and done factory rather than creating your own legacy at another school. Why would you want to be lost in the fold at UK when you have a much greater chance of being the man for many years after you leave at another program? Maybe that's just me

Yea, I also root for less consolidation of talent on 3-4 teams. Really happy for Cal, especially since it's within driving distance!

Now if we could only get Georgetown to schedule a game out in NorCal...

I see it as he had a chance to go up against the best day in and day out. But he chose the path of least resistance. Hey if that's where his heart is God bless him.

Sorry but that is just obnoxious - by that logic, any kid who doesn't commit to Kentucky is a putz and slacker. But worse is the notion that it makes his heart weak... total nonsense.

He'll be playing in the Pac-12, you know, the conference that got more schools through to the sweet 16 than any other league in America. Last I looked, that's pretty good competition

First enj all of UK's bigs declared for the draft. Unless you think going against MLee and Skal everyday is going against the best then he shouldn't have chosen UK. Zona has big T coming back but that's not much competition either. If I was a Top 5 talent coming into college I would want to leave a legacy. It's almost impossible to do at one of the blue bloods. Ewing and Melo are legions forever at their schools. No matter what Okafor did he will never be Laettner.

Nah. To me he wussed out. I take exactly the opposite POV. We all remember LeBron deciding he needed Wade and Bosh to help him win a title. I recall the many comments about Jordan, Bird, Magic et al. Would they have called each other to try to move as a group to a new team in order to win? Hell no! They wanted to win with their own teams. The biggest ones "wussing out" are the many top 10, 5 star, Mickey Ds who all go to UK to guarantee they'll be on a top level team with a slew of other Top 10 cats -- because they don't have the confidence they can lead their own team to greatness. Good for Rabb. I hope he does well, enjoys California, and gets to the league when he's ready.

Rabb chose to stay in his home state, and he will not be far from home. I don't think anybody can criticize a kid for doing that. The fact is regardless of what team he goes to, he will likely be a top lotto pick. Domingo is picking up a nice teammate.

I think the talent in practice thing is garbage. Sure it helps some, but how do you perform when the lights are on and everybody is watching? I think Jay Williams or another commentator made this comment and I couldn't agree more. If you are Tyler Harvey at Eastern Wash you might have an argument, but most big time programs have enough talent to make practice plenty competitive.

Like I said I can't fault a kid for wanting to be close to family and friends. If that's where your heart is good for you. But other elite kids will look at it as a cop out. He wasn't prepared to go to an enviro with other top kids, pushing himself and fighting for his position. No chance he has to worry about being recruited over.

I mean I understand YOU view things that way, but what elite kid has said or even implied something like that? I reflected on what you said and this thought came to mind -- back in the day when Ewing was deciding on what college to attend, why would he choose an upstart like Georgetown when mighty North Carolina was clearly the place where the creme de la creme went to play in the big, bad ACC. Did he wuss out?
