Unfortunately the men lose 2-1 on the road @ xavier. Xavier provided a free video feed so I was able to watch the game. The Hoyas dominated the first half, but were only able to get up 1-0 then Xavier scored a fluke goal in the last few seconds of the first half to send the teams into the half tied. This really motivated Xavier and took the wind out of our sails as Xavier came out really aggressive in the second half. Both teams had some opportunities, but Xavier was able to convert a goal in the 74th minute and the Hoyas were unable to find an equalizer. Brandon Allen had the goal for the Hoyas. The main difference in the second half was the Steve Neumann was unable to play. He got hit in the head twice in the first half and I'm guessing was held out for concussion concerns. Hopefully he is able to return to the pitch. Joshua Yarou did not play the entire game as well with his broken arm.

How did the back line look without Yarou?

How did the back line look without Yarou? Not great, but I don't necessarily think it was necessarily because he was out. Both goals were defensive lapses, but I think the first one was more a result of the Keeper being caught unawares. I think despite how well our defense has performed in terms of shut outs, I don't think they've been particularly strong. Xavier capitalized on their mistakes, where others hadn't but the mistakes were still there in previous games. It certainly would have helped to have Yarou, but I don't think it's a complete fix for the back line to have him. JMO.

Men defeat DePaul 6-0 while Marquette ties St. John's 0-0. This sets up a winner take all game against Marquette this Saturday at 8pm. Hoyas are 4-1-1 and Marquette is 5-0-1 if we win have a chance to win the league if we don't marquette will cruise to the title. Both teams have 2 games they should win to finish the season, but Georgetown has the tougher of the final two games having to travel to St. John's our selves still.

BTW, the Marquette game is also on the road.

Pretty even match, could've gone either way. Marquette had a few too many close shots toward the frame for my liking, but they almost all ended up off target. Keeper could do nothing but watch the winning goal - perfect delivery from Neumann.
Apparently, Hoya Blue had plans to undertake a road trip up to Queens for the St. John's game. Really hope they can pull it off - the boys have earned some vocal support, and hopefully it'll add a bit more wind to their sails.

Men suffer an unfortunate 1-0 loss @ St. John's this evening. Goal scored against the run of play. Georgetown definitely had the better of the run of play, but stuff happens. Really unfortunate because we now need Marquette to lose 1 of their last two games against Seton Hall and DePaul and Xavier to lose @ Butler. If not the Hoyas could end up 3rd and with out a first round by in the BET.

Men up 1-0 in the second. In huge news DePaul did us a huge favor and upset Marquette moving us into Second place! If we hold on to win today we'll be at least second and can win the title if Butler can defeat or tie Xavier at home which has a pretty decent chance of happening!
