Sent the text to your PMs. It basically says we don't score enough, we don't get enough offensive rebounds and we have too many turnovers to advance beyond the Sweet 16. Absolutism is stupid in predictions. Everyone should just move on instead of even responding to drivel that claims anything is certain. I'm certain VCU and Mason couldn't make the Final Four, either.

If we're a 1, we will lose to a 16. It's just gonna happen. Georgetown being Georgetown.

I'm going to ignore your trolling and only happen to be replying to your post, but I do think there's a bit of a perception bias here. Every perennially high-seeded tournament team not coached by Tom Izzo suffers a pretty healthy dose of upsets. How do you think Duke fans are feeling after losing to Lehigh in round 1 last year? ND fans I'm sure "know" that they won't be getting to the Sweet Sixteen. Cuse fans have endured Richmond, Vermont, and plenty of other lesser upsets. I think Kansas fans will agree with us there was no shame in losing to VCU or Davidson. NC State was just as talented if not more so than we were. That leaves Ohio as the lone effort-based inexcusable defeat. You can't blame the Gtown program or Coach Thompson for the others--they don't get to pick the matchups. We've had an unfortunate run of very difficult draws and have at other times probably been a little over-seeded. Past is not prologue, just calm down and enjoy the next couple of weeks. Most schools won't get to do that. This is supposed to be the run part.

Also, glass half full thought of the day:
you will clean up in your office pool by picking the Hoyas to win the whole thing while everyone else concludes we're doomed to be upset again.

The dumbest people in the world talk on sports radio. There's little point in concerning yourself with what they say.
Same is more or less true for ESPN.

I really hope we can continue to post every sports talk radio guy's comments about us on this board. I would love to hear what all the people who are paid to incited controversy and who do not pay attention to college basketball until after the Combine have to say about the Hoyas and their chances.

It would be entirely pathetic if you posted hundreds of time solely for the purpose of trolling Georgetown so I'll assume you consider yourself a fan. The perplexing thing about that assumption is you've rarely, if ever, said anything positive about the team. You find fault in nearly every aspect of the Program and have done so in an overtly condescending and Editedy manner. As it seems you derive no pleasure from rooting for Georgetown, I advise that you find a different team to follow. Perhaps Duke.

First, I think there is nearly no chance we do not get past the first game in the NCAAs. At this point, our worst outcome is probably a #3 seed and we will beat any #14 in the bracket with defense, period. That said, my only concern is this team's over-reliance on Otto to save them on offense. If we are in a dogfight in the second round and Otto turns an ankle or gets in serious foul trouble, we will have big problems. I am not sure you would say that about the other Top 10 teams in the country. We more than any of the other elite teams, have the lowest margin of error (lower possessions) and are more reliant on one specific player. So I can see why people are doubting the Hoyas. I actually do not mind it because it gives our team that extra chip on their shoulder to continue to prove themselves.

As Luke Winn has explained, the incredible thing about Otto is that we've used him more and more, his efficiency has stayed the same or gotten better. Perhaps the reason we are different than other elite teams in our reliance is so heavily on Otto is that he's simply better than any player on any of these other elite teams? I think this "over-reliance" talk is driven by the recent cold shooting from Markel and DSR. It isn't a problem of reliance, its an issue of shot-making by those 2. It would definitely help us if those two are knocking things down.

I'm thinking of putting a few high money brackets out there. Also the post above has it right upon relying on Porter. He stepped up because our other offensive options weren't working. Really what could hurt us is a role player getting hot for a few games and an inability to adjust immediately once they get cold.

I mostly agree but one caveat is that when Otto twisted his knee in the DePaul game DSR erupted. Yes DePaul isn't good defensively, but jt3 kept Otto out to build that confidence in the team with him. They are more battle tested than most and will step up in the tourney.

Is Michigan the same team with out Burke? We've seen Duke is a lesser team with out one of their players in the line up, what about if you took away Mclemore or Withey from Kansas, Olynk from Gonzaga? You take the best player off any team they're going to struggle. Especially mid game when you don't have time to practice a strategy to compensate for that loss.

It would definitely help us if those two are knocking things down. I don't think DSR or Markel have been cold from outside. I think they are relying too much on their outside shot instead of taking to the basket. They've both hit shots from outside over the past few games, usually the shots Markel misses are the ones that are a bit rushed and forced. The thing with Otto is that he isn't great at creating his own shot and definitely not strong with creating shots for others. He is an great shooter and finisher, but he doesn't have the handle to drive by guys on the perimeter consistently and his back to the basket game isn't very strong. That's what makes what he is doing so remarkable because we can't just run iso's for him and hope he scores. Everyone has to be involved in the offense for him to be scoring, either by screening, penetrating, passing, or helping him get rebounds. I think that's where the misconception comes into play with Otto. If his teammates aren't working and doing things offensively, he's not putting up these numbers. What I fear is that the rest of the team will start defering too much to Otto because he is so good and it will end up hurting him AND the offense. They all have to stay aggressive for us to be good, don't get passive.

This team has been involved in a lot of tight games in which every possession is important. It has learned to make the plays that need to be made to win the game. Granted, much of the time that is putting the ball in Otto's hands, but don't underestimate how battle-hardened this group is. I don't have the stats, but I bet our margin of victory (by virtue of fewer possessions, good defense and low scores) is smaller than most, if not all top 15 team. That type of experience can really help in the tournament. We are definitely going to play in the second weekend.

We're off to the right start in reversing recent March Hoyas trends. Saturday marked the first time since 2008 that the Hoyas won their first game in the month of March. We had a four-year losing streak in March openers.
