Do u Hoyas remember Victor Page? I ask because I just started a Kindle ebook about him-sounds like his life hasn't amounted to much after playing at Georgetown.

Likely most of the posters here remember Vic. Do you care to share any thoughts about him other than the fact that you're starting a book about him? Personally, I always have wished that he found a place with the program in a coaching/mentoring role to let guys know how difficult not only basketball after college can be but also life in general. He's got to have a perspective that would resonate on some level. I hated when he left for the draft though, by the accounts that I've read, he had little choice. Even that part of his perspective has incredible value today (Greg Whittington). Not that I'm equating Page and Whitt or assuming any similarity. I only mean to say that the educational part is much more important for the majority of the guys that play ball for Georgetown. As an alum, I'd love for all of the guys to realize their dreams of playing professionally but it's just not realistic for most of the guys. As such, the educational aspect of student-athlete should be appreciated while it can be. It's very difficult to try to recapture that opportunity after the basketball stops bouncing. Vic could certainly convey that from personal experience as well as alternate paths in terms of pro ball. I'll continue to hope that he somehow makes it back into the program in some capacity. I think it'd be great for the current guys and for Victor.

Victor Page? Nope. Don't remember him. Did he play at Georgetown? Modern era or earlier?

I remember him...loved him and inverson and him together. I was pretty young though I didn't know he didn't really have a choice about leaving. I remember being very sad when he went undrafted

Last I heard Vic wasn't in a position to return and mentor anyone. I'll leave it at that.

Victor was my year, very nice guy, struggled academically and ended up leaving when he had to. As a player he was almost too athletically gifted for his own good. He was a lefty who would go left 90% of the time, very explosive and good shooter. If you find old videos of him make sure to check out his one handed crossover. Wish he got a chance to develop his game a little more, what he had was definitely pro caliber... Still came to Hoya games as recently as last season...

One of the great hoya scorers of ALL time I think he scored lots of points in his big east tourney AND was named MVP if i cam wright and we DIDNT WIN THE TOURNEY THAT YEAR> troubled life after. Never got drafted. Do wish him well. but great hoya scorer for sure.

My first game impression of Page was at McDonough when we had a pre-season game, maybe against that military school - Fort Hood?
In any event, Spike Lee was at the game because he was shooting footage for an HBO special on John Thompson. The crowd was very jazzed up. We were a pre-season Final 4 contender.
Iverson, Othella, and Jerome were the known commodities at the time, but there was some buzz about Vic Page from McKinley Tech. He didn't disappoint.
After an array of eye popping plays from Iverson, Page busted out on the left wing on a fast break, was fed a perfect pass from Allen, and skied elbow above the rim for one of his patented left-handed power slams. The dunk electrified the crowd. He was a freshman starter, I believe from day 1.
As referenced above, his performance in the Big East tournament was one of the most impressive accomplishments as a Hoya freshman ever.
His statistics as a sophomore were padded because he was the only scorer and most of it came on heavy volume. He was strong enough to lead us to an NCAA invitation. But I preferred the freshman year Page who played off Iverson.

One of my favorite Hoyas of all time. Arrived on campus looking like a man....well built and with a beard and he hit the court running. He was tough...had a bit of a jabril quality to him. He had a smooth jumper, could stroke the 3, yet he would take down the lane for a power dunk. He'd then beat his chest. He could take over a game if we wanted to by taking his defender off the dribble....had probably the best big east tournament performances I can remember and he was only a freshman.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm not sharing any Victor Page stories (no, I didn't know him personally, but yeah, I've got one or two from when he was on campus) with someone whose very first post on this board is about writing a book. Call me cynical, but I'm not quite that trusting. Not to mention that the poster's name is "mbaguy" but lists him/herself as a woman. ...NTTAWWT.

I can't tell for sure but it seems like the person just started reading a book about Page? Hopefully not writing a book if he/she can't be more clear than that they just "started" a Kindle book.

Well, if you want to be trusting, then the OP is simply someone who started reading a book about VP. If you want to be cynical, the OP is the author of the book who is trying to drum up some readership. I won't post the link to the book, just in case it's the latter...

Great athlete and bb player! Played on one of the best back court in Hoya history (Page and Iverson). Unfortunally, both had a bad night against UMass that prevented the Hoyas from going to the final four.
