Unless he's improved even more on D in practice, I don't expect to see much (if any) of Bowen. Then again, I wouldn't be shocked if our guards pick up ticky-tack fouls early due to the speed of the UConn guards necessitating some minute from AB. If that's the case, it's a big opportunity for him.

Bowen made a very poor decision in the first half when he appeared to hold back to gather himself for a block in transition, then tried to slide in to take a charge and instead got called for the foul +1. He generally played out of control during his minutes in the first half and earned a spot on the bench until DSR banged his elbow in 2ot. I expect he will continue to learn, but tonight was not a great night for him.

We need minutes for more players. Otto played 49 mins tonight and 40 against SU. JT3 should give him some sort of breather before next week.

The kid is 19. Playing a lot of minutes absolutely does not matter in a 2 game/week format for a player in peak physical condition like Otto. Not a concern at all. You play your man 40 a game if you need to and don't think twice about it.
Kemba Walker was playing 40 a night when UConn ran the table after going 9-9 in the regular season. And 4 of those games were back-to-back-to-back-to-back.
Rest is overrated for elite athletes who don't tire. Otto appears to be one of those.

Now, if we can jump all over Rutgers Saturday, then yeah, give Otto a rest. Love to see a game like Depaul where he plays a handful of minutes and we have a blow out. Except that Otto needs to keep scoring to cement his POY resume.

While Porter and Starks were only out a minute of game play, it was sandwiched between 2 full time outs and a flagrant foul review, which take forever. They were probably sitting for 5-10 minutes and that's not counting the numerous timeouts and play stoppages during the game. I think they should be fine.

Hopefully, there is extended garbage time if that happens. It is maddening that this guy thinks he is the #1 offensive option every time he steps on the court.

Hoyas need to get Bowen and Moses lots of time in the Rutgers game. Playing with such a short bench is very dangerous heading into the tournament. Both Lubick and Hopkins are foul prone--Lubick because of his style of play and Hopkins because he is still learning how to play defense. If Porter gets two early fouls in a game, Bowen becomes part of the equation. Of course an injury--even one that is temporary like a turned ankle--also makes it imperative that the Hoyas have more depth.

It is maddening that this guy thinks he is the #1 offensive option every time he steps on the court. Aaron Bowen tries to show JTIII that he can score too..players like DSR, Jabril and Hopkins are given more rope and leeway to make mistakes, and encouraged to shot even when they are cold...but in Bowen's case he gets the quick hook. The only way a player is going to get better is to play and play thru their mistakes. And to learn from the good and the bad on the court.

He just needs to focus on more consistently making routine plays - stay in front of his man, rotate properly on defense, be where he is supposed to be on offense, make good decisions with and without the ball - and not so much on trying to make highlight plays. If he is where he is supposed to be and doing what he is supposed to be doing, the highlight plays will come.

If he is where he is supposed to be and doing what he is supposed to be doing, the highlight plays will come. I think is a very constructive critique of the situation..bmartin

JTIII needs to know that his guys will give full effort on defense, and run the offense. Aaron has made some plays when he has played within himself, and mistakes when he has tried to do too much. But he is getting there, excited to see where his athleticism can take him the rest of this year and the next 2.

Not sure where this is coming from, but Bowen has played his way into the rotation of a top 10 team this year (helped of course by Whittington's suspension). Right now, he's ahead of Domingo on the depth chart and, depending on what happens with Otto (likely headed to the NBA) and Whittington (who knows if he'll be back next year), Aaron is likely looking at 15 mpg or more next year.
I think one of the underrated and pleasant elements of this season has been Bowen's development. With no inside information, it wouldn't seem like he'd be the type of guy to transfer, particularly with a seemingly bright 2 years ahead of him.

it's all about trust. I used to think he'd bounce, but I agree; I think he stays.
