I would probably say that we are well on the way rather than looking at it as if we still have a long way to go. If the core fan base expands a little more, the success and the buzz that will accompany the upcoming year will draw a lot more of the marginally-interested fans (DC area fans, students and alums).
I wish that devotion drove attendance for most fans, but a couple of decades of reality has taught me that this is not usually a chicken and an egg debate. Success brings greater fan support.
Having said that, I think JTIII's reaching out and the ardent effort of the core of the devoted fan base has allowed the support to encourage the players early in the year which undoubtedly led to the great season we have had so far.
As to next year, it is going to be tough. Look at the resume of our new league. It is going to be tough to make the tourney next year becuase of the competition in our league. But, I sure like where we stand. Returning so many players. Another year in the system and hopefully a few more games this year to allow us to get further addicted to winning. And a very solid recruiting class to add the depth and flexibility (and penetration and rebounding) that has been a little lacking on the team this year with the light roster.
I am so looking forward to tonight's game and I am so optimistic about the future of Hoya Hoops!! Go Hoyas!

I second everything Gammo has written!
One possibly disturbing - but I think inaccurate - bit of news. I just got a call from the ticket office telling me I would be unable to get a couple of tickets for some friends of mine who wanted to go to the game. Just out of curiosity, I asked how many student tickets had been sold. The lady who called thought it was only about 500, though she also mentioned that she wasn't sure.
Could it possibly be that low, or should I trust Barker Davis?

Could it possibly be that low, or should I trust Barker Davis? Quite frankly, I think the biggest thing is that its a sell-out, period. Even if it ends up that there are only 500 students in attendance (although by all accounts that number would appear to be higher), I'm thinking that the energy and the environment will be such that the non-students won't be able to help but feed off of the energy and get into it as well. Also, given the unassigned seating, presumably the front couple of rows will be dominated by the more ardent fans (be they students or non-students) who will likely stand the whole game thus forcing those behind them to stand, thus forcing those behind them to stand, and so on. I'm so excited for this game - unfortunately I won't be able to watch the game live on TV, but I look forward to watching the tape of the game later tonight. Go Hoyas! As SFHoya99 said, "BE LOUD!!!"

I heard this morning that it was in the 1100-1200 range. If true, that is 1/6th of the undergrad popluation for a game against Cal State-Fullerton, not a bad turnout. its gonna be nuts

Don't you worry--I'll be there and representing. I already stocked up on the Halls so my throat doesn't die on me again ala last game!

I was watching some Hoya video highlights with my 4-yr-old son (ND game, I think) and all of a sudden he says, "Where's Matt?" "What?" "Where's Matt?" After a few seconds of bewildered silence, it sinks in. "You mean the guy with the blue wig? CA? " "Yeah. Where's Matt?" So I pointed him out. "And look there's Kurt." "OK." As anyone knows, the true test of fanhood is being recognized by nodakjr on the highlights.

Performance-enhancing drugs? I'm disappointed. Hey, I'm willing to take the risks if it means a better chance of victory for the Hoyas ;D ;D

He'll be signing autographs today by the entrance to McDonough .
