I don't want to see a Mourning in another uniform.
Hopefully, Zo will pick up the tab and not force us to use a scholly on him so that he can develop without additional pressure.

The scholly isn't an issue. If we recruit him, he is a counter.

The scholly isn't an issue. If we recruit him, he is a counter. For the 10,000th time, there are ways around this. If he doesn't take an official visit, for example, he is not a recruited student athlete. Then he can pay his own way and not count.

It was my understanding that if he gets recruited by any school then he would be counted as a scholarship athlete. I am not 100% about that.

There may be "ways around" it, but if the school initiates a telephone conversation with the prospect or his parents or legal guardians more than one time, or if the school has an off-campus contact with the prospect or the prospect’s parents or legal guardians, he is a recruited student athlete, and thus a counter. Your official visit criterion by itself is insufficient. I'd be interested to hear of other "ways around it."

I believe he's on the Board of Directors so, yes, sounds like murky waters in that regard.

Many players that walk on at big schools have scholarship offers from smaller D1 schools. How would that work? Also, we can have off campus contact and initiate phone calls without him being required to be a "counter". Do you think that preferred walk ons at BCS schools never have off campus contact or initiated phone calls with the schools' coaches?

Just Google it. That's what I did. Those were virtual quotes I used earlier. Don't get me wrong, I do believe there are exceptions and ways to circumvent the rules. There usually are, anyway.

I'm surprised by the initiated phone call stuff then. I'm sure, at least in football, there are recruits who have been recruited without official visits and then convinced to come in as walk ons or greyshirts.
