Domingo will move more between the 3 and the 4, not the 3 and the 2. Domingo is not a PF. He's 6-6 206 lbs and shoots from the perimeter. He won't get boards at this level. He's strictly a 2-3 wing. He's 6'7, heavier than that and his skillset is better suited at the 4 than at the 2. He's not quick enough nor is his handle yet good enough to play the 2. Also, his foot speed may not be where it needs to be to guard 2s. Your position is determined by what you can defend, first and foremost. Domingo is better suited to get spot minutes guarding 4s then to try and guard opposing 2s. That being said, he is a prototypical 3. Just because he is a great shooter doesn't mean that he's strictly a perimeter player. And who says he wont get boards at this level, you? I'd put my money on him playing more 4 than 2 this year. That is also partly a function of DSR needing to play around 15-20 minutes this year and having more pieces in the backcourt.

He doesn't have a nose for the ball (a la Otto) on top of being too frail for a power forward. He's 206 lbs which is rail think for a power forward.

PG (1): Markel, Jabril, DSR SG (2): Whit, Domingo, Trawick, DSR, Bowen SF (3): Otto, Whit, Domingo, Trawick, Bowen IMO Domingo will be too good to sit on the bench and is are best pure shooter already (JTIII has already complemented his shooting). Whit was also most effective at 2 last year where there would be a size mismatch. And Otto at the 3 which makes us a very big team. The only way (barring alot of injuries) that Jabril is going to see the floor is at the 1 at Markel's expense. Otherwise you are looking at 30 mintues at point for Markel and 10 minutes shared between DSR/Trawick. Then maybe another 5 min at 2 and 3 for Trawick which makes about 15 minutes a game total. Beating out Markel is the only way he can get 20+ minutes a game. Domingo will move more between the 3 and the 4, not the 3 and the 2. Also DSR will be in better position than that. Itll be more similar to PG: Markel (30 mins), DSR (5 mins), Trawick (5 mins) SG: Greg (15 mins), DSR (15 mins), Trawick (10 mins) SF: Otto (20 mins), Greg (10-15 mins), Domingo (10 mins) PF: Nate (20-25 mins), Otto (10 mins), Domingo (5 mins), Mikael (0-5 mins) C: Mikael (20-25 mins), Hayes (10 mins), Moses (5-10 mins) Somethign like that with more flexibility in the frontcourt depending on who steps up. Even under that scenario Trawick still only gets 15 minutes. The only way he can get more is at Markel's expense.

Once again, it will be interesting to review this thread after the season to see who's right and who's wrong.

He's more suited to play the four on this team next year though. We have too many pieces in the backcourt for him to really see any minutes there.

No. Read back through the thread. There was a person who was saying Trawick would get more than 15 minutes a game and that there was no log jam at the 2-3 and to post the depth charts.

He will not play 4 next year either. He simply is not a 4 unless he has a 5 inch growth spurt and becomes a Dirk Nowitzki type power forward.

In any scenario that Jabril plays more than 15 mpg I figure the extra minutes would come at the expense of Greg/DSR at the 2 if anyone, not Markel. Jabril can see 15+ without affecting Markel at all. Its easier to slide Greg more minutes at the 3, then Otto more minutes at the 4. Depending on the situation of course. I just think that its not out of the realm for Markel to play 30 minutes a game and Jabril play more than 15, though it doesn't seem to likely.

He is not too small to play 4 on our team, he's just not the biggest. If you really don't think he will play any minutes at the 4 next year than don't expect him to play more than 5-10 minutes because he will only be playing the 3 in that scenario.

Hollis "played the 4" for a lot of minutes early in his career given the roster then. Whether something should happen does not dictate whether it does happen.

Being a man of my stature, walking in here on day one was the lowest point of my life, but now I realize that God had a purpose. God wanted to show me hell, so that when I got back to heaven, I would finally appreciate it. And for that, I’d like to thank each and every one of you.

PG (1): Markel, Jabril, DSR SG (2): Whit, Domingo, Trawick, DSR, Bowen SF (3): Otto, Whit, Domingo, Trawick, Bowen Based on JT III's overall history WRT playing freshman at Georgetown, I would hesitate to put a guy who has never played a college game above a returning player who was effective as a freshman on the depth chart. However, I don't pay attention to recruiting. Maybe Domingo is that good. My assumption was/is that Trawick is the #2 player at both guard positions, and will play some 3 also. That sounds like a potential "sixth man" role deserving of more than 15 mpg to me.

That sounds like a potential "sixth man" role deserving of more than 15 mpg to me. Summers, Austin Freeman, Monroe, Hollis Thompson, Bennimon (yuck), Nate Lubick, Porter, Whittington all played significant minutes as freshman. If they guy can play, understands the system, or their is a need (pure shooter) then JTIII will play freshman. Otto and Whit probably get 35 minutes a game. There's some shuffling that can be done such as Otto to PF but I suspect DSR is going to also be pretty good as a freshmen and demand some minutes. There will probably be alot of shuffling around at the beginning of the season to see which players and lineups work before settling on a rotation. But the log jam is at the 2 and the 3. The best shot to get minutes is at the 1 since Markel hasn't proven to be as good as Otto and Whit and there are only 3 guys capable of playing the PG (Markel, Jabril, DSR) where as at the 2 and 3 there are 5 guys that can play that position.

Hollis "played the 4" for a lot of minutes early in his career given the roster then. Whether something should happen does not dictate whether it does happen. Anything is possible. Lubick could play the 1 or 2 if we absolutely had to as he did play guard in high school before his growth spurt. Put it this way, if Domingo is playing the 4 then we are in big trouble just like when Hollis or Bennimon played the 4. Because they are playing out of position. (Well in Bennimon's case he may be a low level PF but he shouldn't be out there). You could put Reggie Miller at the 4 but you would get killed on the boards and on defense. Domingo is a pure shoorter like Miller, his style is not to go down low.

I agree that Domingo is too small and inexperienced to play the 4 this year. This PT discussion goes back to who will be at C. If MH, Moses or Hayes is at C, there's no need for JT3 to have Domingo take Nate's or the other 4's minutes at the 4. If there's a situation/need for Nate to move to C during a game, then Otto or GW will be covering the 4.

So many numbers. Personally? I'm just glad we have a coach who understands that "4" isn't the maximum number of players we're allowed to have on the court. People so feisty 'round here. 196 hours. Where's my countdown? ??

Domingo's role will be interesting. He provides something (shooting) that we really need, but based upon the rest of our roster he may be the odd man out this year.
He's young (17 years old) and plays the same position as our 2 best players (Greg and Otto). Obviously all of these guys can play multiple positions so there will be some room. As usual with JT3, it will come down to if he can pick up the system and defend. He seems like a good kid and really excited to work hard and be at Georgetown, so I hope he forces himself into the lineup this year.

The biggest combination of disappointment and /or potential are Starks or Lubick. One of them will be the "breakout"player. Best guess: Lubick. He is likely to see more time than Starks because of front court needs. Can't consider the freshmen.
