Morgan is the kind of guy that will be better in college than high school when the game opens up somewhat. Don't get POD's criticism of him. He's always played well on the circuit, he's 6-7 with terrific length and he's the kind of athlete we haven't had around here very often.
Oh yeah, he's ranked as a 5-star on both scout and rivals. He's Baltimore, where getting him from Maryland would be phenomenal. And III coaches up his guys...our guys mostly get better with few exceptions.
Yes. Sign me up lol

By the way, we heard similar criticism with Whit. When Otto was first introduced, people called him a back-up plan. And why are people calling Morgan a luxury and not a need? Isaac is skilled enough to play anywhere from 2-4. Cameron is a shooter, period. He doesn't do much else. Morgan is a flat wing, a three...the three all have different skillsets that make them unique to each other. Not only that, you can't have enough 6-8 skilled players at the college level in my opinion

Besides not being able to do schoolwork.

Give me a break. He was averaging 12-7 as a soph and he was clearly one of the best perimeter defenders on the team, if not in the BE. He has a lot left to prove, but that's a terrible argument.

Who believes that to be accurate? Copeland is my man and he was numero uno on my list of recruits but I do not think he should be used in the backcourt at all. Let him play the 3-4 wing roll. As much as some want to believe it I don't think Domingo has proven he can play the 2 either so where will he play? I'm just saying the team has his type already in the fold for the future but the program doesn't have 4/5 skilled banger types or 1/2 handler types committed yet so I'd rather see the staff get them 1st. I don't live in the DMV/Balt area so I could be wrong but I feel if the team is winning and players are thriving local kids will be interested. Winning matters more than where kids are from Again its just my opinion

I am honestly starting to think that RDF just changed his name to Problem of Dog. That comment above is absolutely brutal.

I'm with those that say Morgan seems like a luxury. I don't know much about the kid, but it seems like we'll have a lot of 3s in 2 years (hopefully Sr Greg, Jr Domingo, and Fr Copeland), but only Jabril, DSR, and Aaron in the backcourt. We'll have a Sr Josh, Sr Hopkins, Sr Moses upfront with complete unknowns in Hayes (Jr), Bolden (Jr), and Cameron (So). To me that is a roster that screams for another big (if only for insurance in case either or both of Hayes and Bolden don't pan out) and another guard, ideally a PG. It seems like Bentil/Lattin and Booth/Wiley (though I take it from others he's a true 2, not a 1) seem like more significant targets for us, regardless of how good Morgan might be.

Luxury? Do you people think we are Kentucky?
If any top 50 H.S. player wants to commit to Georgetown you take him no matter what the position. We are not at the level that we can turn down a top 30 player in the country. Not many programs are.

Just as a note, Morgan was dealing with injury issues earlier in the year. He has evidently been more productive as of late.

^this. if a top 30 wants t ocome, he will be here. the staff loves this kid. If Otto or greg or markel or DSR has taught us anything, it is to trust the staff when they recruit someone. Morgan will develop if he comes here

This. 100x This. we get one top recruit and people start to believe that we have the ability to be choosy. We don't. Especially in the new normal. Top 50 is take em without question. Top 100 is almost take em without question. We're not so far removed from Nikita and pre-Towson Jerrelle starting for us.

Agree -- and let me add, kids leave GU (and most others schools) all the time: academics, injuries, Transfers, fatherhood, NBA, Europe and, of course, the famous case involving the French Foreign Legion. So: 1. JT3 and staff need to cover themselves for unexpected losses 2. JT3 and staff may already know about possible defections.

I am honestly starting to think that RDF just changed his name to Problem of Dog. That comment above is absolutely brutal. Local HS basketball fans are the worst. They always think they know everything, and they always focus on the flaws of a player. Everyone sucks. Except that one guy they went to high school with. You ever go on the old mdvarsity site? Pretty much every NBA player out of the DMV except Kevin Durant and Mike Beasley sucked on that site. And that was a pretty ty call on Beasley as well, who is freaking toxic.

Mike is one of the 25 most talented players in the league. He's just a head case. I think everyone has known both of those facts for a long time.

Meh - this is wrong. We can be choosy.
We're also not that far removed from having 3 McD-AA starting on the team. JTIII has consistenly landed plenty of Top 50 talent every year.
Sapp, Freeman, Wright, Summers, Macklin, Monroe, Hollis, Clark, Starks, Lubick, Otto, Hopkins, Adams, Domingo, DSR were all Top 50 or close to it. He's also shown the ability of finding diamonds in the rough - Wallace, Whitt, Brilly, etc.
Copeland is in the fold, It is time to think about getting pieces that fit together - not just taking best available player.
Don't sell JTIII's recruiting ability short. He's been outstanding on the trail. People crush him because he doesn't land the Top 10-20, but what he typically gets is guys who are talented, committed to defense, stay 2-4 years, and importantly have position skill/flexibility needed for his system.

What a difference a couple of months make… This board went from thinking we would never land a top recruit again to Kentucky… Good lord.
