marylandhoops.net/?p=824The rising junior insists he has no favorites at this stage, but does have a list of schools that are standing out after offering. Georgetown, Maryland, and Villanova are on that list, along with Virginia Tech, Indiana, and SMU. Ohio State and Syracuse have not offered yet, but are in touch often and are schools that he is significantly interested in.

Good that we're in contact, he'd be a nice fit given how heavy we've gone with wing guys lately.

At least 2 Nate, and Markel. Moses and Bowen are off that class as well. Coach will make a decision about whether he wants to apply for red shirts or use their scholarships.

I wish no recruits had been there to witness that stinker...

Except they saw they can put up points in the offense as DSR who's roughly their same height dropped 19 and didn't even start.

Recruits would rather play then watch a game--especially games in Nov-December unless it's a marquee non conference game. Problem Georgetown runs into--and I can say this because I speak with 4 kids they are recruiting 2 others they were--it's boring to watch them play. Transition basketball is non existant, they don't look for secondary offense, and everything is halfcourt. Duquesne is a really bad/rebuilding team. I can tell you that most kids prefer how they play over how Georgetown approaches the game and it's not going to help that Lakers/Princeton are getting railed to a point that it's seen as something you use if you can't play. Where do all recruits think they are heading? Why would they want to play in a system that is not going to showcase them? Specifically guards. Yesterday didn't help recruiting/at least with caliber of player needed to get back to being a National Contender or even Big East contender.

I get what you're saying RDF and agree to a point, but in fairness to III they were focused on pushing the ball in transition (weren't that effective, but execution is a player centric fix not a system fix) and I think they will continue to do so, and I saw some pick and roll being applied into sets. If they continue to do this it will be closest to an NBA offense as teams can get. Watching other teams play the sets don't look much different it's just the stigma of the "Princeton offense" Honestly if III came out and says he was scrapping the Princeton offense today and continued on what he's trying to do (push the ball in transition, Princeton principles, pick and roll) noone would say a darn thing about the system anymore. I'm with you that things need to change a bit. I was encouraged at least in the first game and from his comments that he has recognized that needs to occur and yes we will see if it continues but I think it's a good start

Really?? From the game and a half I have seen, and we can all agree it is too small to make any pronouncements, the offense hasn't changed much if at all. Yes DSR hit some nice long range shots, but I see 4 perimeter players and an undersized big either in the lane or top of key. What's the diff? In the second half they pounded it inside more, and got some boards from Whitt, but I really hope they are ironing things out.

You didn't see them try and run more and the use of pick and rolls more?
As I noted, it WASN'T EFFECTIVE/EXECUTION WAS OFF, but you really can say you didn't see those things? Go back and watch the game. and yes WAY too early to get a good sample size
I'm as frustrated as everyone with how we played, but to ignore these wrinkles is willful ignorance

I did see a few attempts out high at pick and roll. I think it has more to do with the fact we really can't back cut people anymore. Teams know it is a staple and have shut it down. One that I have seen so far in the 3 halves. Maybe a pick and roll set will open up the cut.

And the running came from the d causing turnovers at the top of the half court. IF they didn't run at that point then we are truly in trouble.

Do you actually believe that teams have figured out the back cut? We've been doing it for 8 years now. And teams have been running it a lot longer than that. Teams prep for it, obviously, but there are counters and counters to the counters and so on.
