Can anyone remember a Hoya redshirt that was not due to injury? I can't. Did we redshirt Nikita after his 9-game suspension? Yeah -- so I think the suspension played a role, and I think he may have had a foot injury at some point in there too, but I think he could have returned and didn't, so that was part-injury, part-suspension, part-Nikita's ability to contribute (or lack thereof).

Karnak says the answer is Bolden in 2012-13.

I don't think either Bolden or Hayes will be redshirted. The program generally takes the approach that everyone should be available unless injuries, suspension, or ineligibility force their hand.
Georgetown isn't a 5 year school - there shouldn't be a need to redshirt anyone.

I remember seeing a JTIII quotation along the lines of "in an ideal world, we would have been able to redshirt Roy, but we needed bodies on the court that year." Still, I think we're unlikely to see many redshirts other than for injuries, or when mandated by transfer.

Hollis kind of redshirted. Don't think Hayes will redshirt. Center position is trully wide open this year.

Is it only me, or is anyone else a little shocked/disturbed that ESPN has made no mention of the Hayes commitment? For heaven's sake they talk about FIU commits but nothing of Georgetown. I know they have something against the BE, but this is getting a little ridiculous!

In an era of one-and-dones, I'd rather that Georgetown stay away from five-and-dones.

I honestly think we should at least red shirt Bolden. We have 6 players for 2 spots. We probably will only play 4 of them. Why waste their years of eligibility.

What's the use in redshirting him? If he's good enough that you want him around for a fifth year, he's likely good enough that he takes the Hollis route and gets his degree and goes to play overseas.

I think, though, many of us are wondering if Bolden will be good enough to see the floor for anything other than pure garbage time next year. Coaches will decide.

I know they have something against the BE, but this is getting a little ridiculous! I have seen a number of ESPN guys on twitter talking about it. Hayes isnt a big time recruit, hes gotten the level of coverage he has because there are so few guys left. Not everybody can talk about every recruit all the time.

Because all indications are he's not good enough to play right now, but has the potential to be a good player 2-3 years from now. So you assume you can make him a serviceable player 2 years from now. Would you want that serviceable or better player for only 2 years or would you rather get as much out of him as possible. Plenty of BE schools red shirt players all the time for non injury reasons, Pitt and ND do it all the time.

Honestly, I don't care who is redshirted, Bolden or Hayes. But one of them better be!

Hayes was considering the '13 class for a while and early reports said he'd prep for a year or redshirt at wherever he chose. Sounds like he might redshirt - who knows. I imagine that if Tyler and Moses are both healthy and ready to contribute next year (which they are at this point) then one of these guys might get redshirted. That being said, even 2 yrs from now you will still have the same logjam of projects at the 5 - Tyler, Moses, Hopkins, Hayes and Bolden.
