peachstatebasketball.com/brandonclayscouting-com-prospect-eval-marcus-derrickson-december-3-2014/Date: December 14, 2014 Evaluator: Brandon Clay Location: Team Takeover National Hoop Festival (Hyattsville, Md.) Derrickson is a smooth scoring option at the forward position. His ability to consistently score reminds me of Noah Dickerson (GA-15). Derrickson’s game is vastly different as he shoots the 3-pointer and is more of a face-up option. He made a tough sweeping full hook shot at 6 feet here.

Odd that he compared him to a classmate, usually comparison are to past prospects, not competitors.

Odd that he compared him to a classmate, usually comparison are to past prospects, not competitors. I thought that was an odd comparison, too. I also thought this was even stranger wording: "They're basically the same player... except different in many ways"

So from the article, Brewster has kids signed to: Louisville, UCONN, Arizona, and Georgetown.
They also have 6'1 pg David Crisp who signed with Washington, part of their Top 10, 2015 recruiting class.
Wow - that is one stocked HS team... Prep School would be a better term. 5 kids signed to D1 programs? and major D1 programs at that. They sound like an OAK HILL type of team. Glad to know Marcus is playing in such great company this year.

And they have Donovan Mitchell who is going to Louisville.. They're loaded

Would I be wrong in hoping we have a DaJuan Blair type with his one? Certainly body type alone thats who he reminds me of but perhaps with a little more range?

I think those expectations are probably too high. Blair was a freak of nature and an absurd offensive rebounder. I don't think Derrickson has that kind of athleticism.

Think Draymond Green Michigan St days is really a perfect comparsion. Today in the Warriors game, Draymond Green grabbed a rebound, drove coast to coast, and threw a perfect half-court alley-oop to Harrison Barnes. I know he's improved since his college days, but Derrickson is NOT Draymond Green. Just because players have similar body types does not mean they are equal.

Draymond Green has lost about 30 pounds since his Michigan State days to play the 3 in the NBA so yes he has changed. Derrickson could do that and be a 3 too. They are very similar in their ability to score in all 3 phases. Perimeter, post and off the bounce. To take a play from this version of Green and say he isn't that is silly. I said Michigan State Green. He couldn't do that in college either. Dude has put in the work. Look it up there are tons of articles talking about the dedication he put into to transforming his body over his first 2 years in the NBA.

Btw I looked it up just to be certain . Green played a limited role his freshman year because he wasn't in shape. He Averaged 11 minutes a game as a freshman. I suspect Marcus will be in the same boat.
