The only reason he should wait that I would argue is the insane depth of this year's draft class. He would likely have a better shot to crack the first round and earn a guaranteed contract next year, but if he's ready to leave, that's obviously his call.

Although you could also argue that the depth of this draft makes it less likely that teams will take fliers on random international players that they plan to stock and get actual talent they can use like they do in the NFL.

Am I reading too much into this that this is opening up 2 scholarships for next year? Shot blocking center and one more top prospect?

Good luck, Hollywood!
Thanks not only for the basketball effort you put in, but also for representing Georgetown well and making us all proud.
You will be missed.

Bright kid with a bright future. Will be tough to lose 3 starters (just like last year!) but I think we'll be ok.

Good luck to Hollis wherever he lands.....seemed like a great kid and definitely had some great on-court moments. Still has work to do, but hopefully we'll see him in the NBA at some point.

Good Luck, Hollis. He's definitely got a skillset that can play in the NBA. Let's hope that a team recognizes it.

I was really hoping he'd stay but good luck to him. And thank you so much for this, certainly my fondest in-person moment of the season:

He could stay one more year, sneak into the 1st round, get guarnteed contract and make a millie a yr. If Hollis really were one year away from being a 1st rounder, then wouldn't one of the supergenius GMs that the League is known for take a flyer on him this year at an ultra-low discounted rate? Especially when everyone sees how jacked he is after two months on the Austin Freeman post-season diet and the Julian Vaughn post-season workout regimen. I'm also looking forward to seeing 31+ mpg reallocated to a bunch of hungry frosh/sophs!!! If Hollis helped vent some of the pressure on PT for next year, heading off a disgruntled transfer, his departure may even be doing the team some long-term good over the next couple seasons. I wish my fellow Hoya the best of luck this spring and beyond, knowing that no matter where he plays ball next year, it's got to be better than law school. Hoya Saxa, Hollis!!!

Best of everything, Hollis. We will miss you.
And, as Brasky said, GW, step into the starting lineup.

He was a solid Hoya who represented the university well, but I think what he brought on the court will be replaced immediately by the sophomore class. And I think the title of the thread could use two words added to the end.

And I think the title of the thread could use two words added to the end. I agree with this. We won't miss him for what he brought as a starter, but we might miss him from a scoring depth perspective. For example, Whittington might step in as a starter but now we won't have him off the bench if that makes sense. Also, did Hollis regularly make NBA three-pointers during his career? Clark certainly has that range. Hollis, not sure.

Can someone explain to me how this is a good idea for Hollis? Is the argument here that Hollis will not get better at Georgetown because our system limits his NBA growth? If not our system limiting him will he not get as many hours to work on his game in the college setting?? I know its not because hollis is some monster player that cant be contained in the college game??!!!! Can someone please objectively tell me why hollis woudlnt want to work on his game with the hops of actually being a first round pick??!! This is baffeling. I think the point has been made several times. He is graduating school. Isnt that reason enough to, um, leave school? No thats not reason enough. The most important thing for Hollis is that hes NBA ready. Why would he give up a much needed year to get better... Unless hes not going to get better here..

Seems like Hollis enrolling a semester early didn't turn out the be the positive that most people thought it would be. Really? I think that the extra semester helped immensely...he was able to impact the team immediately freshman year. While we have seen other players come in and contribute immediately, I feel like the extra semester did help Hollis. I'm pretty sure that most people (including Hollis) was not expecting to stay all 4 years...maybe 3 at the most.

He didn't think he was going to get better here...not in a way that would make him more ready for the league.

Boiling it down to the biggest factors, it seems like a pretty easy call. From an academic standpoint, he has nothing left to accomplish, unless a graduate degree was part of his intent. From a basketball perspective, I'm sure he can develop his game elsewhere just as well, if not better, than he can here, especially if he can do so without the burden of classes and NCAA-mandated limited access to coaching. If he doesn't make it to the League, he can work on his game, full time, overseas or in the D-League. Can't say I blame him.
