he's a kid that liked hoyas, but serious interest in him from GU came too late from what I hear. I know folks that really liked him. Gotta be worth a look.

Michael Gbinje appears to be transferring from Duke. Think we'll take a shot? Is it just me or do the white kids at Duke not transfer?

He's talented enough to play for anybody.
Would love if he transferred here.

I would go for him first over Hood, just because we have almost too many wings. I understand he he can play SF but he' more likely to play guard. Also, we are running out of scholarships!!!!!!!!

Gbinije is Hart 2.0. Same size, better shooter. Plus, he learned under Coach K for a season. SIGN HIM UP!

So Gbinige just completed his frosh year? IF he came to GU, I assume he'd have to sit a year, then have 3 years of eligibilty left? FYI: ESPN's recruiting analysis is below. ESPN Analyst Updated 04/07/2011
Strengths: Gbinije is unique because his game is very fundamentally sound at such a young age. He is an aberration in this day and age of selfish players because he rarely forces the action and always looks to make the right basketball play. He has a solid frame with nice length and he's a good athlete. His ball skills are college-ready and his jump shot is smooth out to 20-feet.
Weaknesses: Gbinije is a smooth player, but he does have a tendency to float through stretches of a game. He has improved in this area, but he needs to improve his intensity level at both ends. In addition, he needs to continue to work on his 1st step to the basket (burst) to get by his opponent and become a more consistent defender.
Bottom line: Gbinije is a fundamentally sound player that allows the game to come to him. He should have an easier transition than most prospects heading onto college because of his overall grasp of the game and skill set. If he can improve his aggressiveness (killer instinct) he should be a solid contributor for Duke during his frosh season.
Notes Travel Team: Team Takeover...Arizona, Virginia Tech, Boston College, Clemson, Florida State, Georgetown, Indiana, Maryland, Villanova, Oklahoma State, Syracuse and Temple also offered... Wingspan: 75"...Committed to Duke in March, 2010...2011 Jordan Brand All American...

I'd much prefer Hood because he has shown a lot more, but Gbinje is a great prospect in his own right. I hope we get involved.

I remember a lot of people said he probably would have gone to Georgetown out of high school if we went after him hard, but Duke got involved first and we never could catch up. As a player he would be a sounder stronger version of Hollis that's the type of talent we are talking about here. He has a decent handle.

Is it just me or do the white kids at Duke not transfer? It's you ( link) I still feel like the ratio is much lower. Plus, Taylor King transferred from everywhere.

Tranferring AWAY from Duke is a BIG PLUS. It simply means the kid can smell a hypocrite.

Michael Gbinje bears a striking similarity to Taylor Swift. At least that's what I saw when I opened the article posted above.
