I don't think there's any real difference between ending up second and ending up third, but I'm pretty firmly in the camp that doesn't want fourth.

HSB, I'm curious, what's the scenario where Cincy loses a game but we still don't get a double bye? I thought we won every possible tiebreak involving USF and Louisville. Also, I wouldn't hold my breath for Notre Dame to lose at home to Providence. USF can still finish with a 13-5 record by winning out, so if they go 2-0, ND beats Provvy and we lose to 'Quette, we're fifth.

The downside about fourth the fourth is it requires another loss. The upside is that it would allow us to knock out SUcks one game sooner. Just too bad we can't win and get knock them out in the semis.

And if you combine that with Cincy winning out (and they are up big on Marquette at halftime), we're sixth.

Cincy still up by 17 vs Marquette in the 2nd half with 10 min to go. Doesn't sound good.

I'm more nervous about USF winning at this point then Cincinnati. I didn't think they had a chance against Lville. At least Cinci still has to play at Nova on Saturday. USF should beat Wvu at home. It looks like we are really going to have to beat Marquette.

So much for rooting for other teams. Just win on Saturday. Yeah, maybe just concentrate on our own business. Just keep winning and we control our own destiny.

We beat USF by 30 and Lville couldn't beat them by 1.

Yeah, this is really the meaning of controlling your own destiny. We win, we're the 2 seed, a loss 5th/6th. Answer - MUST WIN!

It shows how competitive the BE is. 12 wins and you might be in 6th place? And one more win and you are in 2nd. Yeesh.

Yeah, we win we're the 2 seed, we lose we are most likely the 6 seed. That's whack. ND should beat Providence, Cincy should beat Nova, and USF has a good chance to beat WVU. I can't believe USF won at Louisville. So if those three things occur and we lose to Marquette, we're the 6 seed.
Looking on the bright side, if those results occur, Marquette is 2, ND 3, USF 4 and Cincy 5. Our first game would be against the 11/14 winner, currently St. Johns/Nova. I could live with that, even if it means playing St. Johns in the Garden. We win that, we get ND.
If we win Saturday and get the 2 seed and the other results follow, Marquette, ND and USF would all be 13-5, Cincy would be the 6 seed and Louisville 7. If I'm not mistaken, the tiebreaker among the 3-5 seeds would result in ND 3, Marquette 4, USF 5. So it looks like there is a good chance that ND will be in our bracket, no matter what we do on Saturday. Same with Louisville, which is pretty much locked into the 7 spot.

Except if we win, we get ND on Friday, if we lose we get them on Thursday and then Marquette on Friday. How great would it be if we got to Friday and were facing ND? Pretty great is the answer.

I think we will beat Marquette. But, if we don't, like kg said, i don't think it's all that clear cut. Beating USF now becomes a pretty big game for WVU; Cinci can definitely lose on the road to Nova; and stranger things have happened with Providence. If USF can beat Lville on senior night, anything can happen.
