The board consensus has no role in Starks' PT or lack thereof. It was made pretty clear that the team org chart on that decision starts and ends with the guy who said, "we'll see." As it should. I love hoyatalk but man am I sick of you on your high horse. I know you work really hard to make this board better and I appreciate that, but enough is enough. The whole point of a message board is to speculate about juicy topics exactly like whether or not Markel will start on Monday. I played a sport at Georgetown so I understand better than most that it's not good for the athletes to get caught up in drama or look ahead - but WE'RE NOT PLAYERS. The main reason you're losing people to casualhoya (sorry, but it's true, and even though I still visit both my % is 80-20 when it used to be the other way around) is because of unnecessarily authoritative comments like this. The one thing we all have is common is our love for the Hoyas (and the fact that we're obviously big dorks) - please don't get in the way of that.

What is there to discuss SirSaxa? You know nothing about the situation. Is he suspended? Was it the incident in Newark? Because he was 1-9 last game? Because in the last 10 games he's shooting 38% on FGs, 32% on 3's, and has gotten to the free throw line a total of 4 times? The team has decided to handle the situation in-house. When and if he plays again, then we can revisit. Ditto for you. What is this - the no fun zone??

I wonder if Starks continues to sit whether he will become a transfer candidate.

We need to win this game even just to show that we can beat a team that shoots 30 3FGs per game and relies on hot outside shooting to beat more physically-gifted and athletic teams. I don't want to see open 3 pt shots tomorrow night. Make Cooley his defender 1 on 1 and make Atkins finish or distribute on drives into the paint.
Also, I'd keep an eye on Jerian Grant. The kid is a player and will be fired up coming back to DC.
Also, I am tired of Brey owning Gtown the past few years. We haven't beaten them since Roy was a senior.

Come on, dude. I kinda like Casual Hoya too but there's like 50 people max who post on that site. And almost all of them are trying to outdo each other with lame jokes and pictures of their lunches.

Back to the issue at hand- tomorrow's game. To defeat the Irish the Hoyas need to play very good defense on the perimeter and take away then outside shot. Playing defense on the perimeter is not a Starks strength this year and I would expect his minutes to be limited no matter what. The other issue is whether we can present enough of an inside scoring threat to open up our perimeter shooters. Hollis could not have been more "off" than in the Villanova game. His shot will fall if he continues to take it.

I wonder if Starks continues to sit whether he will become a transfer candidate. Two things to say about that; one is that the play of Markel and Nate as starters has had the Hoyas playing 3 against 5 to start the game, so something had to give. Either one of them lifted their game or one had to benched until he got hisacttogether; second this team has played as a team more so than any since the 2008 team. JT3 couldn't let that sense of togetherness be hurt by the attitude of one player. Unlike the last two years when guys pouted and did not play defense when their offense was off, but were not benched because there was no replacements JT3 now has options. To be honest this is good news. I was beginning to think that Starks play was indicative of his overall talent, now I know that it was due to an attitude that needed some adjustments. If he has the heart of a Hoya, he will accept this discipline and come back strong as a starter if JT3 starts him, or become the spark off the bench like Hollis did last year for the team if JT3 starts Otto.

It is a wonder you still hang around this communist, oppressive site.

I strongly suspect that was a one game thing....almost 95 percent certain Markel will play on Monday night...that being said, we are clearly a better team with the lineup we played yesterday....that should be the five we go with for the remainder of the season

This lineup has chemistry. They all had Otto's back after Sutton's flagrant foul and played like a team. Refreshing after the last couple years. Starks has a role to play and will contribute before the party is over.

I wonder if Starks continues to sit whether he will become a transfer candidate. Nope. He's not going to sit. And to answer SirSaxa's question, I believe that Starks starts on Monday.

Indeed, this is the real Ranch. The team has exceeded my expectations and I owe them all the positive vibes I can muster here on out. As the sage Davy Jones once said, I'm a believer. Since nobody else bothered, I'll point out that Mickey Dolenz sang that song. Ranch, to your credit you don't limit yourself to being wrong exclusively on basketball matters.

I think Otto will be the starter from here on out, but I also think that Markel's unofficial suspension ends tomorrow. Markel seemed like he was going out of his way to be a bench cheerleader yesterday and apparently posted a very p.r. like "come on and support us at the booth tomorrow!" post on Facebook. I have confidence that he's mature enough to make this episode into a positive for his game and for the team

I believe we beat the Irish and Markel stars. The previous game was a ploy to get him some rest, so he is fresh for ND.

I would like to see Aaton get some minutes at guard. Perhaps he is out of the dog house?
