Just stinks of desperation.
Also makes no sense. Based on the article it sounds like he discussed it with Lee Reed once. Since it didn't automatically happen his next go to move is to threaten us?
Wouldn't the opposite make much more sense: We'll schedule you in a bunch of sports if you play us in Basketball? Bring back games in soccer instead of just scrimmages like the last couple years, Toss us a football game, etc. You catch more flies with honey and so on.
This make maryland look hilariously bad.

Georgetown won't play UMDCP in Men's Basketball so we won't play them in all sports. Boo hoo. Seriously? Because we can't make money on the basketball game then the other sports be damned. We should play UVA, William & Mary, GMU, JMU, GWU, Howard, Navy and AU (No ODU, VCU or Richmond because they have/could shock us) but no UMDCP. I guess they don't realiaze that their conference has screwed the Big East over and over again with their raiding ways - first the teams and MSG tourney is next. Why oh why would we do anything to appease them? Where is the benefit to Georgetown?

Our offer is this: nothing. Not even a forensic debate competition (as if UMCP had a debate team). Now go back to your million dollar presidential mansion and cry while your athletic department crumbles around you.

Austin has got it.
We should give in to threats and coercion? From the Twerps? No freakin' way.

Want to start a pool on which WaPo columnist will write a column this week on this topic (probably imploring the schools to play each other - What about the children!)?
My money is Mike Wise.

UMCP before 2012: Georgetown should play us. To not do so would be to deprive the fans, the student-athletes and charities.
UMCP 2012: If Georgetown won't play us in men's basketball, we're going to screw the fans and student-athletes in every other sport.

If the intent is to actually get the games scheduled and not simply to posture, then why is Anderson dumb enough to think this is the way to do it? At a minimum, he could open the dialogue by publicly acknowledging the situation, that there's a rift that no matter who is to blame has gone on long enough. At least offer an olive branch...
The crappy part of it is that we're going to get slammed by by WaPo, which doesn't matter, but is just annoying. I respect our no comment, but it'd be nice for us to once and for all issue our stance on it and salvage a little of the PR battle. If they're going to take this public, a total lack of response simply makes us look aloof.

Does anybody know if men's basketball @ Twerp Land is one of the 8 varsity sports that the University of Maryland is looking to cut? Yeah, men's hoops was cut this year. Wait, what? They are playing this year!? Oops, my bad. Hadn't noticed.

Or it makes them looks like a weak, poorly-run institution that is so desperate to shore up its alumni support that it chooses to "negotiate" through the media. This is a classic "shiny metal object" from Anderson to the UMCP alums and donors who are still wondering how they got stuck with him and that spiteful moron Randy Edsall. Speaking of which, we should schedule Vanderbilt in all sports.

If JT III is going to keep recruiting the South and the West Coast, it is far more important to continue to schedule games like Alabama, Mississippi St., LSU, UCLA, Arizona, and Washington, than to pick up another local team. Besides, it is a business and right now the ACC has hurt the Big East financially for the second time in a decade. I would hope that the school does not schedule any of the ACC teams for the forseeable future.

you guys need to start a series with UVA in all sports...That would really tick them off. being a UVA fan here, our sports teams are betting anyway. Both teams would pack the JPJ and the Verizon center.

This is delicious. I wonder how many local teams the Men's Terps currently schedule. Oh look -- it's Mount St. Mary's. And they won by 3. At home. Ignoring the infantile move by their AD, we should not schedule these jokers because even when we beat them, it will not help our RPI that much. www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/teams/schedule/MD/maryland-terrapins

Speaking of which, we should schedule Vanderbilt in all sports. I'd love to play Vandy every year in all sports. It's the perfect partner in a lot of ways. I wish we would at least pick back up the basketball series. I guess the BE-SEC challenge sort of got in the way of this.
