Keep our composure. Limit turnovers. Defensive intensity. We absolutely can win this game.

We need to handle their press and give them a dose of ours, and it'll be a fun night at Luvul. Otto should have 4+ steals in this one.

So the real season is about to begin. The preseason was a remarkable surprise. We played 4 games against serious opponents and won 3 - while losing to #11 KU by 4.
But the BE is a very tough row to hoe, every year. Opening AT #4 L'ville is a tough way to start. A great test for our young team with it's 3 upperclassmen leaders.
I can't wait to see how this one turns out. I expect a really positive showing and a highly competitive game. If we can somehow pull this one out.... the confidence boost would be immense.
GO HOYAS!!

Tough, tough game.....winnable, but tough...
Need to keep Siva out of the lane...If we do that, much easier said than done, we have a good chance.
We are much longer than them, so we need to make them take jumpers over outstretched arms.
I can't believe I'm saying this: But they haven't seen a big this year close to being as good as Henry. Defending him will be a big adjustment for the Cardinals.
The best team they've seen this season is Vandy, and they beat them by two in overtime, when Vandy should've won by about 10.
They play extremely well at home, but I also think they haven't seen a team nearly as good as us. For comparisons sake, they beat Memphis 95-87 at home.

I actually like our chances in this game. I do think Louisville is a really good team and if they get 100% healthy I think they win the BE(mostly due to how they dominate Cuse). The timing of this game is quite advantageous. They're still not 100% healthy and most importantly we get them right before their big match-up with their rival Kentucky. Louisville is a really good defensive team. Luckily for us so are we this year. I expect a relatively low scoring game int he 60s. The difference is our offense is significantly better than theirs. We've been exceptional(by our standards) with not turning over the ball which is one of Louisville's strong points. The other is defending inside the arc. They actually don't guard the 3pt line that well. Dieng is a good shot blocker. They're also a good offensive rebounding team.

my buddy says the new floor down there has problems and the ball doesn't bounce right when dribbling. he says he picked it up from watching some of their games. that said, we should pass first.

in terms of the game the one player who can cause havoc for them is Russ Smith...on the press he plays a very Kevin Braswellesque Defense where he always goes for the strip from behind, he hacks alot too, but gets away with it by moving his feet....The thing is that he can shoot Lousivelle in or out of a game too.

I agree with Daytona, this is definitley a winnable game. A win here can really set the tone for us early in the big east season. I think our team can beat any team on any given night. My only concern is if things are going bad do we have a player that will step up and carry us on his back.. That guy should be Hollis. Other than that, cant wait for the game, Go hoyas..
Ps- todays my birthday... file that under a shamless plug:)

Western Kentucky is back up 6 with 12:20 to go. It shows even further that Louisville is beatable if we play well.
Happy birthday rich.

Go Luvul!!! I want them undefeated and as highly ranked as possible for Thursday. Give them hell, WKU. A nice and tired Luvul, after Christmas and with UK a couple of days later... Perfect!

I understand we can lose but the last 3 teams Louisville has played they have had long stretches where they haven't played well....I think we should win this game, but who knows how the crowd will effect us, but Unless Russ Smith effects the game we should win. Also would help to get Deing in foul trouble.

Two keys: keeping Markel out of foul trouble guarding Siva (as daytona mentioned) and getting Dieng into foul trouble; negating their inside length. Buckles and Behannan are undersized fours. Our length should cause problems.

I've seen L'ville several times already this year, and one guy that has impressed me in just about every game is Gorgui Dieng. Long, athletic big who has the ability to knock down shots from the perimeter and wreak havoc in the post on both ends. He will be a problem for us.
I think we're better equipped to handle L'ville than in past years because their pressure should bother us less than it has in previous seasons. We have bigs (Otto, Greg) and a guard off the bench (Trawick) who are more than capable of handling the ball. If we follow the same game plan that we had for Memphis (limit turnovers and transition points), I think we beat them. If we're sloppy with the passing and not strong with the ball, it's going to be a long night.

Glad to see that L'ville won but struggled to do so last night. They will be overconfident Wednesday. Hoyas can do this. GO HOYAS!!! Beat the Cardinals.
