Dieng can create problems for Henry, both down low and taking away some of his passing with his height and length. Other folks may have to step up on offense.

Besides Dieng, they seem like a really, really small team by Louisville standards. Usually they have a lot of length and 6-6 guys but not this team.

Kansas may be better and GU should've won.

"Why is Pitino saying Kentucky is 20 points better than us? I don't like that one bit." Because they have to play Cheatipari's boys at Rupp.

I don't care what he says. I'll take a win by 20 over them.

I think it means he is overlooking the Hoyas and pointing to Kentucky. Nice his opponents to death, particularly UK. Good.

Louisville seems to be a team that lets teams get up on them a bit then makes a strong comeback the last 8 minutes or so to control the game. Georgetown seems to be a team that does a pretty good job of letting teams back into a game once they have gained control over them and know they can beat them but does just enough to win. Should be an interesting test of wills on Wednesday. Will we learn how to play with a lead late in the game? That, I think, will determine whether or not we win this game.

Interestingly, Kenpom has us higher than Louisville. We've handled Louisville pretty well over the past few years, all things considered. I think we have a good shot in this game, and it would be a great way to kick off the conference slate.

You've got to figure that Chane Behanan's comment from last week has been bulletin board fodder for the Hoyas this week. He is a freshman but he's averaging 24 min and nearly 10 pts/game so it isn't as if some nailed-to-the-bench type was stupidly spouting off his mouth... this kid is 5th on the team in minutes. That's a starter (or at least someone with starter's minutes) who is stupidly spouting off his mouth. “We’re the No. 1 team in the country in my eyes,” Behanan said. “We’re going undefeated. Point blank, period.” www.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/26283066/33953035I've got to think that any of the Hoyas and especially the upperclassmen would look at that comment as a personal insult.

GU will be in charge of welcoming Behanan to the BE.
There's no way Luvul is just concentrating on our game wihtout looking at UK, esp. a player like Behanan who sees all his AAU peers and wants to beat them.

He'll be Nate's responsibility. Need a big game from him and a few points. Louisville is also missing guys to injury. Now is the time to catch them.

I don't think any of the guys would be insulted by that comment. Might it be the source of some trash talk? Sure. But insulted? I doubt it. The kid has confidence in his team and they haven't lost. It'll be fun handing him the L and rubbing it in a little in the handshake line.

Interesting comparisons using kempom rankings. Louisville is 4th defensively but 73rd offensively(Hoyas are 16thD and 26thO) The team we've played similar to Louisville are Alabama 9th D and 69th O. Another Defense like Louisville we've faced is Kansas 7th D but they're much better offensively than Louisville 24th. On the other hand Louisville hasn't played anyone even close to us. Memphis' offense at 21st and Long Beach States offense at 37th are the only O or D of any team they've played this year that's in the top 50. The best defenses they've played were 59th and 64th.
So this is a bigger step up in competition for Louisville than it is for us.

Which is it Ricky?
"One thing I've learned to do with my age, I really don't look ahead," Louisville coach Rick Pitino said.
"When you're 59, you're realistic that you don't have a whole lot of years left," Pitino said.
I don't see how announcing your retirement plans 5 years in advance but right before the start of the BEast season could possibly be a distraction...

He has no such plans it was just an attention grab. Louisville plays a bowl game the same day Pitino decides to announce a retirement 5 years in advance. yeah no coincidence there.

This will be a tough game for us in a very hostile environment. I'm expecting a loss but think we have a decent shot to win and will play them very tough.
As noted above, we are more battle tested and healthier heading into this game than Louisville. They also may be sneaking a peak at Kentucky before they play us. All in all, this is probably a good time as any to play them on the road.

Keys to the game: (1) defend the three-point shot; (2) transition defense. We do those two things well, we win. Otherwise, we lose.

Defending the boards would be the biggest key to my eye they're 14th in OR%.
