Keys to the game: (1) defend the three-point shot; (2) transition defense. We do those two things well, we win. Otherwise, we lose. I'll add second chance points to this mix as well. Basically, free points are death because I can't see there being much scoring in this one. And if we are fortunate enough to be ahead late, let's learn from Alabama and finish smart.

If you saw the WKy game, they're rather offensively sluggish compared to Cards teams of years past. I'm more concerned that we have good shot selection and take the ball inside as often as we can, and just let our defense continue to do its thing.

Key to the game: Turnovers. L'ville is elite nationally at causing them, and historically we've been very bad at preventing them, although we've done very well on that this season so far. If we can end 90+% of our possessions with shot attempts, I really like our chances.
According to Kenpom, Russ Smith is the best steals guy in the nation. Markel has his work cut out for him.

Louisville is not going to like our length at all. Big test for Markel.

I think that the key to the game tonight is limiting their inside production and relegating them to an outside shooting team. I know Couric and Siva are capable shooters, however making them a perimeter team primarily limits free throw oppurtunities and potential inside fou trouble since we are thin on the front line.
Nate Lubick has to be a scoring threat, defenders are playing off of him because they know he cant shoot and is a reluctant shooter. A couple a strong moves from the top of the key make the D have to respect you more and creates the spacing needed for cutters and backdoor passing lanes.I think that the key to the game tonight is limiting their inside production and relegating them to an outside shooting team. I honestly believe as I think I have said in this thread if we don't let Russ Smith effect the game, this game wont be that hard. Russ Smith gambles for steals on ball. He gets most of those steals reaching in and reaching from behind. On Offense he will shoot Louisville in or out of games. He takes really bad shots often but sometimes he can get rolling and hitting them. Other than him the only 2 players that worry me on their roster are Deing and Kuric. Kuric because he is a really good shooter and offensive rebounder. Deing because if he gets Sims in foul trouble we might have a problem. Behanan is decent as well. He has a Mashburn style in his game that he can go down low and score but can shoot it from deep as well, but he isn't 6-8 like Mash was more like 6-6, and he has trouble scoring down low over height. Siva has played like crap the 5 times I've watched them this year. Chris Smith is a really good shooter and defender but I cant see him going off to beat us.

Breaking the press and pressing them back will be key. The two times I've watched Luvul this year, they have been scrappy with the ball. Oh, and limit the OR's.

I'd just like to add that Nate Lubick has to be a scoring threat. Oh, and also, Nate Lubick has to be a scoring threat! If we do that, then Nate Lubick will be a scoring threat.

Louisville has a 20 game home win streak. Time to break another streak! Let's go Hoyas!

You guys can't see the forrest through the trees.
The Nate of last year? Scoring threat.
The Nate of this year. HE. CAN. NOT. SCORE.
AT. ALL.
He has zero lift compared to last year. No post moves. No jumper. No nothing.
If Nate tries to be a scoring threat? We lose games. Simple as that.
Nate doing what he does now is just fine. Rebound, play post defense, set screens and give us 20-22 minutes of solid play.
I'm very disappointed in not only his lack of progression, but, at least offensively, his rather sharp rate of regression.

Lubick needs to score. If he picks up his scoring, IMHO, he becomes the ipso facto KING.

Alright officials...Louisville is good enough without you guys help...please stop bailing them out on out-of-control drives that end up with fadeaways out of bounds over three people

Aside from the slow start, listening to him is brutal.
