Finally, we can put the dreams of Kyle in a Hoya uniform to rest. Now, everybody look forward. Who's the next big target? What can we do to make this recruiting class a success?
To get the ball rolling, I think either TJ Warren or Devonta Pollard instantly becomes target #1. Landing one of them is crucial, maybe not because they would fill a major need, but because landing someone of their caliber keeps the recruiting ball rolling. Next, I think we have to put the full court press on DSR. We need another ball handler desperately. Not to mention, his shooting ability will be welcomed. As for big men, Tony Parker to anywhere but Georgetown seems likely at this point, though I won't completely count us out. If I had to guess, he'll be at UCLA with Shabazz, and another player we just missed out on (sparing everyone from uttering the name for a couple days). I think our push for Upshaw increases. Unfortunately, this is basically the extent of our remaining targets in 2012.
Again, we are on the lists of many top level prospects in 2013. It won't be easy to land any of them. Now, more than ever, the Hoyas need to show that they can continue to be a contender in the Big East (while it briefly remains intact) and in the country. We will survive all of this turmoil. Trust the staff, who have put forth an unbelievable effort on the trail, especially for the 2012 group. It hasn't paid dividends yet, but we cannot underscore their dedication. Hoya Saxa

I'm rather fed up with being on the list of next years recruits and always whiffing. Painful.

The thing is, all it takes is one and the dominoes fall.

Exactly id, which is why I think getting either Warren or Pollard is absolutely essential.

Love the idea of Pollard or Warren but I just don't see anyway we are winning a recruiting war over the likes of Kentucky (Pollard, Warren) and UNC (Warren).
DSR, Upshaw, Twymond Howard, Stefan Jankovic and Jamel Artis are some of the names I'll be following closely.

I'm a little more interested in Jankovic than I was previously. I think he adds a dimension we do not have: power forward who can stroke it.
I really wasn't high on the kid, but I'm more intrigued after watching that.

In a way I'm glad this big east fiasco is happening this year where we could choose to only bring in 1 or 2 2012 guys and hold the rest for 2013. Were this to have happened in a year where we brought in 5 new recruits like last year...it would have been a major problem.

It would be really nice if Lubick could make some jumpers this year. They don't have to be 3's, mid range j's will be just fine.

of the names currently out there:
1a) Pollard 1b) Warren 3) Upshaw
DSR and Jankovic do nothing for me.

If we announce a bold plan that takes us into a solid, stable basketball conference, then all of the recruiting issues go away.
Having a 12/20 combo with annual uncertainty could kill our ability to recruit.

I think Upshaw could push his way into the top 40 by the end of the year. His stock is rising very fast. I'm all for turning up the heat. With Henry gone, Moses recovering from the ACL, and Tyler unproven as of now, it couldn't hurt to add a high-potential, massive 6-11 center.

DSR will have a new leader/new schools involved by end of week. Someone will be pushing for him, which seems to cover the fact others who were "all over him" a week prior have backed off.
III did a great job recruiting Kyle but have to win games in March and send some guards to NBA to convince elite players you can achieve what they hope to do. Lately Hoyas haven't gotten it done in March, and they haven't had anyone close to being an NBA guard talent wise.
As for Jamel Artis--he's re-classified to class of '13.
I'm for anyone but DSR to join the program.

In the end Anderson strung several coaches along, coaches that had been following him along and communicating with him and his family for years, then finally settled on the location where he could go after the women in bikinis on the beach of Santa Monica. For all the accolades about how well he and his family conducted themselves, I disagree. He certainly did know there were some schools that were not in the running yet he (and his family) allowed these coaches to spend their time and money in what he knew was futile. And he orchestrated it all by announcing he would declare on his birthday thereby setting up a long time of uncertainty for all concerned. Better to have said nothing, then to announce his decision.

I know we have been "involved" and "listed" with a number of kids - is there anyone for whom we are actually considered the leader?

Couldnt agree more Ed. I said this previously in his thread that he knew a long time ago where he was going but he wanted to make an event of his announcement, his bday. After the elite 24 he should have pulled the trigger for UCLA bc that is where he was heading.
RDF, completely agree with you too. There is no way you are going to bring in high level recruits that play guard/wing when you dont put ANY in the L. Last guard to get there out of Gtown, Allen Iverson. It isnt a knock, but it is reality. Many people have a hard time acknowledging that, but it couldnt be more true. With UCLA's track record for getting guards drafted, it really was a no brainer.
Now with this realignment talk, I would bet dollars to donuts that we do not get ANY of the top guys we have been tracking and dont expect any in 2013 until Georgetown's hoop future is concrete bc right now, the worst case scenario scares the hell out of me. BTW, how long are we gonna say, "But we are on the lists of many top guys next year." There are many schools on those lists and we are competing against schools with more to offer. We best them in academia, but what top 25-50 kid cares about that? Very few. They care about getting to the L.
And lastly, i hate to be the doom and gloom kinda poster, but lets be honest for a moment. Do you think these frosh and sophmores we have right now are not looking at this and talking with their families about how this could impact them? Do you think these assistants are sitting back being idle about their futures? In a dog eat dog world, I doubt contingency plans are not being formed.

Who would have thought that the bikini girls in Santa Monica are more appealing than the bikini girls in Newark?
