I wouldn't say he's playing us rather I just don't think he ends up here. I think it's both parties are just not that in to each other. DSR doesn't fit the mold we've been going with based off the last recruiting class. DSR seems to be looking for a program where he can be the man. Frankly he'd be best off at a Midmajor where he can be the only star in the back court. He should have stuck with Xavier. Sadly if that had happened we might have Semaj right now.

Drd13, the only way we can salvage this class is to get either pollard or warren AND upshaw? That would be a home run. If we got one of the three and paired him with bolden, that's a good class when you only have 3 spots to give anyway.

I think Upshaw is being a bit overrated. He is a project. People are treating him like he's an instant stud on here. Do I think he could be a really good player at some point? Yes. It is a given? No.
And I do believe that the combination I mentioned is necessary to salvage a class in which we were on the lists of about half of the top 50 players at one point or another. I would be thrilled with that class, but I think after how wide we cast the net among stud players, coming out with any less would be a disappointment. Sooner or later, you have to start catching the big fish.

Unfortunately, I think the uncertainly surrounding the Big East is going to make it difficult for us to recruit for 2012 and the timing is pretty poor too. While I think Georgetown has a lot to offer, I can understand why a top 50 recruit might be hesitant to go to Georgetown, not knowing if they'll even be playing in a major conference at the beginning of 2012.
That said, if I remember correctly, we didn't even get our first 2011 commitment until Midnight Madness last year. We still have time to get solid players. The other upside is that our class of 2011 is strong enough that we can endure a weaker 2012 class. Obviously, it's not ideal, but at least we have good options even if we don't get the top 2012 guys we want.

Looking at the potential roster next season, we really just need a wing to go with Bolden....

Upshaw is not overrated--he's a skilled 7'0 and those guys don't come along often and more importantly-he FITS what Georgetown does--he can play facing--has a nice jumpshot and saw him make 3pt shots 2 Summers ago when he wasn't nearly in as good of condition--which I also am impressed with-a player not needing to be told to get into better shape. He's not an intimidating presence but he can block some shots, and he's not a guy who was going to show much for Dream Vision with the ballhog known as Shabazz Muhammed gunning. I'd take a chance on a kid like him--and he's more mobile then Roy was at same stage.

Can't teach height. Would love to have a shotblocker in the middle (whether that be Upshaw or a healthy Moses) in the middle when we're so long at every other position. We'd be a nightmare defensively.

While it would be great to get two of Warren/Pollard/Upshaw, if we get one and not 2, we should look at whoever in the DC area that's uncommitted has the most impressive senior season, a la Whittington. It's ok to forego local recruits under the rare condition that we max out national recruit "gets", but most years we should bring in at least one local kid to keep our presence strong in what should always be our most prime recruiting territory.
