If Bolden is in fact sitting out so much, thats completely unacceptable. He's extremely raw and needs the experience against top competition. If he's not out there making himself better, then maybe his scholarship should be reconsidered. Maybe this is off-base and there's stuff that we do not know, but at first glance, this is certainly not a good sign.

Dont' want to bury a kid without knowing for certain because I was looking forward to seeing him but had to leave due to family emergency--however Freeman is with NTF and haven't heard one thing about Bolden. Agree that he needs to play/workout and it's not a great sign--but it's not end all either. Some kids think an early commit means work is over--got a spot--and hope that isn't case with Brandon.

According to Scout, Joe Rahon (2012 Point Guard) has an offer from Hoyas.
"* Joe Rahon has offers from Georgetown, Boston College, St. Mary’s, Portland, San Diego and William & Mary. He says he’s wide open..."
Bronxie's worst nightmare...

I don't think that is a good thing to start doing now... You think negative recruiting is an issue now.. If Bolden is in fact sitting out so much, thats completely unacceptable. This would be an interesting development if we are on Aquille Carr's track now. twitter.com/#!/scoutsfocus/status/95571754386341888

Don't think it's automatically a bad thing if he's skipping AAU. Depends on what he's doing. If he's goofing off then yeah it's really bad. But remember Otto skipped out on AAU to hone his skills and fundamentals. If Brndon is at home working tirelessly on getting better frankly I think that would be a better use of his time.

All I meant with the Bolden remarks is that a lot of people on here are skeptical of whether or not he deserved a scholarship in the first place. If there's no indication that he's busting his butt to get better, then I think thats a cause for concern. Certainly, a lack of AAU appearances doesn't necessarily indicate that he's doing nothing. If he's working out on his own, getting stronger and better, then great. If he has a case of early-commit complacency though, then that is simply not okay, as he is not nearly polished enough to be wasting valuable time before his senior season.
I don't want to bury Brandon yet. Obviously we don't have knowledge of what he's up to currently. I'm just pointing out that he really is in no position to be doing anything but working really hard to become a better player and to compete at the college level. So, hopefully, he's on his grind doing just that.

Not looking good for James Robinson these days either.... "2012 Team Takeover PG James Robinson top 5 is Pittsburgh, Miami, Notre Dame, Virginia, and UCLA" twitter.com/#!/scoutsfocus/status/95643456965324800

I believe we recruited Rahon's older brother as a transfer, did we not? Same things were said about him. I also doubt this guy has a commitable offer, but is a backup plan along with guys like Bernardi and Myles Davis (til he committed). III tends to keep some of these guys around the periphery until the scholarship situation is a little more clear and the team needs are a little more clear, and re-evaluates then. A guy like Wattad is an example of a guy who got the call eventually, while others were recruited, never offered, and quickly forgotten about.
Re: Bolden, I can't remember any commit in my time on this board who people have been as eager to pull his scholarship as this kid. What's the benefit there--to offer it to all the other stud 2012 bigs who are beating down the door to be Hoyas? (Read: there aren't any). I have no idea what he's gonna do with his summer but as far as I know there are not any other better options up front in this class. Hopefully he is doing something to work on his game. If he's not, he isn't gonna last long at Georgetown. He's already going to come in behind Lubick, Hopkins, Adams & Ayegba, assuming all of those guys are still around. He'll watch all of them while picking splinters for 2 years if he doesn't work on his game, because right now I don't think he's as good as any of them or even really close. But at this time, unless he's really and blatantly throwing in the towel on becoming a better player, I think he's worth keeping. His height/athleticism warrant a shot, and by all accounts the kid is really enthusiastic about Georgetown. I don't see any better options in the same class, so IMO, bring him in, see how he compares to the rest of the team and how hard he works, and if he doesn't stack up to the rest of the players he'll move on and the scholarship will be free before you know it.

"2012 Team Takeover PG James Robinson top 5 is Pittsburgh, Miami, Notre Dame, Virginia, and UCLA" twitter.com/#!/scoutsfocus/status/95643456965324800 Since UCLA got a commitment from a highly rated Nevada point guard in the 2012 class on Sunday, I would say that ship has sailed for James. Also, re Bolden, I have to believe that the kid isn't so stupid that he would be sitting around doing nothing. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for now.

Rahon plays on same AAU team (DreamVision) as Robert Upshaw. In Scout update, Upshaw said he'd wait until the spring to sign.

Dave Telep mentioned what is being discussed in regards to Bolden--August is time coaches re-evaluate guys who have committed and either haven't worked hard or haven't improved and de-commitments take place. It happens. Will it with Bolden? I don't know nor am I advocating it--yet but this is a business and if a guy played with an AAU team and isn't now--why? It's not like he's got a lot left--this is end of AAU season and he could've used to the competition and work against good players imo.
As for the comparison with Otto--Otto had luxury of a father who has a high understanding of the game and wanted him to improve his skill set-and he never played AAU-it's not same as Bolden who was on AAU teams and has sat out July. Maybe he's injured? I do know he's got talent/upside--but please let's quit comparing him to Bosh--I don't ever want that name and Georgetown in same sentence. lol

A lot already covered but here are a few other things:
III tracked Nerlens Noel all day
III watched TJ Warren
III watched Aquille Carr
Georgetown was watching '14 Chris McCullough all day in Vegas
Hoyas had Coach watching Javon Felix game tonight
Hoyas were watching LJ Rose tonight
Archie Goodwin continues to list Georgetown--and will narrow to 10 finalists at end of Summer. The '12 SG plans on a Spring Decision.
James Robinson has replaced Georgetown with Pitt in his top 5.
Troy Williams favorite coach to talk with is Pops--and said Georgetown contacts him most and has tracked him hardest--along with a few other schools--VA Tech was another mentioned. Had Hoyas listed as one of his top 5 he'd visit right now too.
