2,600 people at the White House Correspondents Dinner... and nothing leaked.
Well done!

Heh . I do think the timing of this with the birth certificate release was coincidental, at least based on the few facts we've learned about how this was conducted (and that the "go" didn't come until after the certificate was released). But I do think that the Toby of this West Wing decided to leak the news early in part to inevitably interrupt Celebrity Apprentice. .

Congratulations to the Seals, CIA, supporting elements and the President who authorized it. Well done.

Congratulations to the Seals, CIA, supporting elements and the President who authorized it. Well done. As well as to the perseverance and efforts under the previous administration. One of the recurring themes this morning I kept hearing was that cooperation between the Bush and Obama administrations helped to make this happen. Let's hope this is a reminder that united we're far more effective at tackling hard problems.

A big congratulations also to Norah O'Donnell......NOT. Hey, we all make mistakes, but that was a doozie, sweetheart. On a serious note, very proud of our intelligence services, military services, and civilian leadership. A job well done all around. And I'm not surprised at all that this didn't leak, actually. Especially since we didn't tell the Pakistanis. And yes, there will be people who will doubt that we got the real bin Laden. 99.9999999999999% of those people do not reside in the United States. I think priority number one right now is that we need Hollywood to make a new movie about Navy SEALs. It is a crime against all that they do that the most well known movie about them is a joke starring a joke. Get on it, Ridley Scott! EDIT: Also....this:

I was at the White House from around 0145 to 0300. Comments:
1. It wasn't partisan. Any chant of "four more years" never got traction (nor anything else that was done as a joke, including "legalize it!"). Chants of "USA", "**** the terrorists!", "**** Osama!", and signing of the Star Spangled Banner. That happened a lot. Like, a lot, a lot.
2. I saw Jews, Sikhs and Muslims in the crowd. I saw numerous races and heard lots of different languages. Everybody was happy, nobody was aggressive or mean.
It wasn't the most appropriate celebration, but most of the kids celebrating were eight when 9/11 happened, so they get a pass. I'll head over to the Pentagon Memorial later today for a little more somber approach.

Exorcist, CNBC displayed footage this morning of a girl wearing a WAG shirt, sitting on the shoulders of a guy and waving an American flag outside of the WH. Good stuff. Bipartisan thanks to our public servants, civilian, military, intelligence who made this happen....

No Delta Force, this was all DEVGRU. Also: Be nice if we had a President who could multi-task. Sorry, couldn't help myself. An impressive operation, cheers to all involved, including President Obama.

Sorry, this isn't Rainbow Six. The group fit inside a helicopter - one of the problems from Desert One was a desire to have all the services involved. In this case, DEVGRU was selected, and they did their job. I'd bet that Delta was probably busy yesterday.

A big congratulations also to Norah O'Donnell......NOT. Hey, we all make mistakes, but that was a doozie, sweetheart. Didn't FOX's chyron do the exact same thing? I think the only thing this tells us is that the clear choice in Cable News is CNN, who brought Ed Henry in on what must have been laundry day for the White House coverage. His shirt was an absolute abomination - we need a special task force to target it and destroy it.

A response I agree with. I find the wild celebrations really strange - simply not how I reacted to the news. I am glad they found the guy and I am not upset he is dead. Other than that, I am not sure how anything has changed in the world today. I will celebrate when people stop dying on both sides.

The problem with the piece is that it equates people cheering outside the White House to people dancing in the streets after 9/11. 9/11 killed thousands of people, many of them innocents with no culpability. Yesterday, one person, who authorized 9/11 and other strikes - in Spain, in the UK, in Kenya, in Yemen, in Indonesia, in Tanzania. People are cheering because he's dead.

Agreed, and I expect this reaction to bubble up quickly in the aftermath of those celebrations. It just didn't seem like an appropriate way to acknowledge this event. And don't get me wrong - I'm happy as hell that he's dead.
